In his first season as Eagles coach, Chip Kelly hasn't had a full opportunity to handpick the pieces he wants to run his high-speed offense. But he sure inherited some ideal parts — starting with the shifty, electric LeSean McCoy. The 5-foot-11, 208-pound running back was untouchable at times Sunday at Lambeau Field. He made Morgan Burnett miss at the line on one play that ruptured to 20 yards. On another run, he left Mike Neal lunging for air. Much of this season, the Packers have been bottling up opposing teams' top backs, from Reggie Bush to Adrian Peterson to Frank Gore. Yet in back-to-back weeks, Matt Forte and McCoy have run wild. Thus, the Packers defense is back to square one. Even with Clay Matthews back — club and all — a running back had a field day. "Just continue to play hard," defensive end Mike Daniels said of the defense, "get back on the film, see what we did wrong and make our weaknesses our strengths."

MISSING IN ACTION
The secondary was gashed for three long touchdowns. The run defense was exposed. But maybe most surprising Sunday was the absence of a running game. Coming into this one, the Packers' rushing offense ranked third in the NFL. But with quarterback Aaron Rodgers out, the priorities of a defensive coordinator absolutely change. Eddie Lacy met a crowded line of scrimmage all game and managed only 3 yards per carry (73 yards on 24 attempts). For four quarters, Lacy and the offensive line weren't able to take pressure off Scott Tolzien. The margin for error for every block by a lineman, every cut by a back gets smaller. "It changes because they get to tee off," Lacy said. "They know it's a run. We have to do what we have to do, but it definitely gives them an advantage." Asked what the Packers can do to fix this, Lacy said, "I have no idea." As long as Rodgers is out, he can count on more players creeping into the box.

WHAT IF...
If the Packers' defensive backs were able to take advantage of their interception possibilities, this probably would have been a totally different game. Again, Green Bay dropped interceptions. This game, Tramon Williams and Morgan Burnett collided on DeSean Jackson's 55-yard touchdown. Williams went for the ball and Burnett popped it out. On a second and 6 in the second half, Williams missed a diving interception that was caught by Jason Avant for 22 yards. Five plays later, the Eagles scored to go ahead, 27-10. Through nine games, the Packers have only three interceptions. Now the lack of takeaways is starting to cost them. Dom Capers' defense is fueled by takeaways. The previous four seasons, the Packers had 103 interceptions, an average of 26 per season.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
• When both Evan Dietrich-Smith and Don Barclay suffered injuries, the only healthy offensive lineman left on the sideline for the Packers was undrafted rookie Lane Taylor.
• Former Packers offensive lineman Allen Barbre made an appearance when Jason Peters left the game due to injury.
• Neither team scored a touchdown in the red zone.
• Beating right tackle Marshall Newhouse, Philadelphia's Vinny Curry sacked Scott Tolzien with so much force the quarterback's helmet popped off.
• Packers tight end Brandon Bostick caught all three passes thrown his way, including the out-and-up touchdown.
• Coach Mike McCarthy said afterward that Scott Tolzien ran plays in the game he never was asked to throw in practice.
• BY THE NUMBERS
• 13 Times Jarrett Boykin was targeted, leading all receivers.
• 2 Sacks for rookie Datone Jones, who had one in the eight games before Sunday.
• 2 Missed field goals for Mason Crosby on Sunday after missing two in the eight previous games.
• 18 Pass attempts for the Eagles, less than half the number Green Bay attempted (44).
• 2.8 Yards per carry for Eddie Lacy and James Starks combined. Heading in, the duo averaged 4.9 per carry.
• 3 Interceptions for the Packers' defense this season, last in the NFL.
Packers (5-4) vs. Giants (3-6), 3:25 p.m. Sunday (Fox), MetLife Stadium

Need proof that the NFL season is a marathon? The New York Giants remain in the NFC East title picture. The Giants won their third straight game Sunday, taking down Oakland, 24-20. Eli Manning has had the worst statistical season of his career with 11 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. But he's been at his best against Green Bay.

In fairness to Crosby, it was extremely windy. The other kicker missed one too.

Nice to see Datone Jones get some action in. Sounds like that ankle's getting better.

I think they're gonna open up the passing game a little more this next week. Tolzien showed he can play. So did Bostick. And Boykin. LOL. It's gonna be strike team football!

If the defense decides to show up, I like our chances.

When he comes back suddenly every other person on the team will play much better. The defense will start tackling people again and the the other team will tremble in the might that is once again the Green Bay Packers.

It is a simple fact of the universe. If the Packers want to win they need Aaron Rodgers. My pot head brother knows that. Heck my potted plant knows that

Win without Aaron Rodgers... now I have heard it all. You are funny nerdman very funny indeed.

This thread has turned incredibly comical. In just 3 posts, no less.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes

Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
