Green Bay Packers safeties coach Darren Perry wasn’t overly positive when discussing the play of his unit during the 2013 season.

Burnett has played well when he's had someone competent alongside him. He deserves a shot at redemption.

And Hyde could be that guy. Be nice to have other possibilities though.

We need a smart player back there making plays and yelling instructions to the DBs.
Our current safeties just fill spots or run to the line to push, that's really not enough.

I strongly believe Burnett is worst than what most people think about him.

It would be a hard problem to fix because the draft for 2014 is not full of great safeties and we need 2 or even 3 new faces.

I disagree about the badness of Burnett. He has been more than decent when healthy. He just hasn't had quality playing beside him. As for smart or not, I once heard that Nick Collins was dumb as a rock - in an IQ sense. He seemed plenty smart on the football field, though. I doubt Burnett's brain is the source of any communications problems. Get another quality Safety in either the draft or free agency (Byrd, for example), and Burnett will be fine.
