Actually you CAN have too many 300+ lbers - they are generally worthless on special teams.

Question: Does anybody know for sure, regarding Raji's $4 million contract, what if this guy Guion or somebody else greatly outshines him in the preseason? Can the Packers cut Raji without liability? Or is his salary guaranteed?

But also we don't what (if any) new ways we'll be using the NT role. But last year the DL (NT and the DEs) were asked to play a lot of two gap out of the 3-4 look.

This year clearly they're going in a different direction as they haven't resign the two gap guys and have brought in nothing but one gap guys, so I'd take a guess the Packers are going to be playing a lot of one gap defense from there DL this year.

It's not usually done but you can play one gap with a 3-4 NT... the Cowboys did it with success with Jay Ratliff, which is why he had a couple huge sacks years. (I hated how TV people would compare his sacks numbers to NTs the played two gap defense, it's worse than comparing apples and oranges...)

And some fans have guessed about using a 4-3 with 3-4 scheme ... like the Broncos and Seahawks have done for the past coupe of years and like Capers did for the Jags in 1999 which they went 14-2 in regular season and 15-3 overall (all 3 loses coming against the Titans)... and Vic Ketchman of Packers.com has also talked about it, and it sounds like he might of been covering the Jags during that time period.

I don't know what they're going to do with the defense yet, but you can clearly see they want movers and attackers, one gapers, no two gap guys really. I think Raji, Daniels, Worthy and Guion can play two gap... but it's not their strength... well I haven't seen enough o Worthy and Guion but I don't think it's their strength either.

I'm not real optimistic about this guy Guion being the kind of NT the Packers should have. But I guess I'm no less optimistic about him than I am about Raji. Guion may not have had many reps for Minnesota, but neither did big Gil Brown. And Raji, IMO, has had far more reps than he has deserved for what he has shown.
