Examining the Green Bay Packers' roster:

Quarterbacks (3)

Aaron Rodgers
Matt Flynn
Scott Tolzien

The Packers have not kept three quarterbacks on their opening-day roster since 2008 but might be inclined to do so this season in order to avoid a situation like last year, when Rodgers broke his collarbone. Coach Mike McCarthy is high on Tolzien, who made two starts last season, but Flynn has proved he can win as a backup in Green Bay.

Running backs (4)

Eddie Lacy
James Starks
DuJuan Harris
John Kuhn

The return of Harris, who missed all of last season because of a knee injury, gives the Packers insurance behind Lacy and Starks.

some interesting choices. There will defiantly be some hard calls made.

Looking at Rob's roster:

I know GB struggled when Aaron went down but 3 QBs is a luxury. Even though everyone loves Tolzien I don't see him on the 53 man roster.

With Franklin gone I don't see them trying to keep more than 4.

Assuming everyone plays to their abilities Janis is the bubble boy big time. It takes a lot to keep 6 WRs. Doing so could leave them short at another position and there is little guarantee of activating the 5th or 6th WR.

It is interesting that Rob feels Taylor will still make the team and Lyerla will not.

Will Sherrod’s injury and salary be his undoing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Is Guion fighting the OLBers like Palmer for a spot on the team more so than other DL? Time will tell. Having Peppers and Neal line up as OLB helps Guion’s chances and hurts the other linebackers.

The easiest choices for the team are probably in the defensive backfield.

I know it has been said many times that Goode is going to be the LS. I am fairly sure that is the case. That said I can still wish someone like Linsley was able to steal the job away and free up one extra position for the team. Who knows if he was able to do so perhaps that would give Tolzien a better chance to remain on the roster.

Most interesting on his list is the LB.... where he only has 3 ILBers unless you count rookie Bradford who the coaches said will be played at OLB (though rumor has it, he might be moved to ILB at a later time). I had Barrington as the 4th ILB

Also Neal listed at OLB with 7 others on the DL... when Packers might be counting him as a DL. (or counting him and Peppers as half and half of each, which is how they have them listed on Packers.com).

Sounded like Adams was having problems with drops, and Abbrederis looked natural in the slot. Plus you got a couple of second year guys who want spots as well... I think he'll be an interesting show down and there will be more good talent than there will be roster spots.

I think teams value guys like that more than fans do... also you might be able to Lyerla to the practice squad, if he doesn't clearly show his potential enough for a team to want him more than they did as an undrafted guy.

But I think the problem is, what if that player becomes you starting ___ on offense and gets injured then you have two holes two fill and LS is so specialized that it can be hard to fine a good replacement.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.

Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then

Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
