I think the running game got them to the playoffs. Ryan is good but he didn't get them to the playoffs.

Was he not the qb that started every game? The answer is yes so he led them to the playoffs plain and simple.

So the QB is always the leader of the team? Always give the QB credit for wins? Ask a Vikings fan if their starting QB for most of their wins this season were wins because of their QB?

"DGB454" wrote:

Thats how it works in the NFL the qb is the leader of the offense he is praised for wins and blamed for losses, just how it goes.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

A QB is not the leader of a team, and he doesn't always get blamed for the team's defense.

Matt Ryan is was not as big of a factor in the Falcons playoff team than Michael Turner was. Turner was more impressive, consistent and Ryan's pass was based on setting up the run first, then faking to Turner.

If we're talking about upside, I think Rodgers is the better young QB. But if we're talking solely about this season, Ryan wins hands down. No question.

Matt Ryan threw 16 TDs against 11 INTs. That's not impressive. Period. Our standards are truly low if we put him in the same sentence with Aaron Rodgers. The fact is the Falcons rushed for 2443 yards and 23 TDs. Michael Turner carried that team on his shoulders. Matt Ryan would have been branded a first-round bust without Turner's Herculean performance.

Let's take a look at the box score from this year's Atl-GB game.

M. Ryan 16-26, 61.7 comp%, 2 TD, 1 INT, 94.1 QB Rating
A. Rodgers 25-37, 67.6 comp%, 3 TD, 1 INT, 109.4 QB Rating

I guess you can't lose with either. Seriously though, I would take Rodgers as my QB over Ryan just because he's had more experience in the NFL. Nothing against Ryan, he's been amazing for a rookie that inherited that team.
