He was just over matched and made mistakes. The guy is great, but he's not a superhuman quarterback. Such a thing doesn't even exist. The Seahawks did the same thing to Peyton Manning the last game they played before the Packers and he was coming off the greatest season of a QB ever, and was the league MVP. At some point, you have to credit the Seahaws defense and home field advantage. They very likely could be "that good." A defense that is that good is going to make even the greatest players make many mistakes, both physically and mentally. That's what makes them great.

The idiocy in these two pages is nothing if it isn't predictable. The sick shitheads whining about less pork on the D Line are now crowing about being right. That would be low down enough if it were true, but the fact is, it ain't true. The Packers, after doing a reasonable job during the preseason with that more athletic, more mobile, better tackling, and yes, smaller D Line, inexplicably went most of the game with the newest blob of nothingness, Guion, at NT. Where was Boyd? Where was Pennel?

You damn fools whining about the less fatness, what in the hell good do you think Raji or Pickett would have done against the jet sweep - or the off-tackle plays for that matter. Damn Guion got run around just like damn Raji.

The WORSE problem, however, was the use of that total piece of crap, Brad Jones. I think he actually had a few supporters in here before, didn't he? Is ANYBODY defending him now? Among a whole lot of other worthlessness displayed by that overpaid piece of shit, how different would the game have been if he had the peewee football level sense to tuck the potential interception that fell in his lap - that probably any of us in this forum could have held on to? Barrington looked decent; Lattimore looked a lot better than Jones; Hell, Carl Bradford probably wouldn't have played as bad as Jones.

As for all this negativist crap going forward, I call bullshit to the extreme. Yeah, we lost to a damn good defense and a moderately decent offense too - at their place with everything weighted in their favor, etc. Arguably, they picked up where they left off in the Super Bowl. We, on the other hand, have every reason to expect our D to get better - not to mention every expectation that our offense will dominate teams the way the first string did in preseason.

Honestly, I thought we'd win this game; That was wrong. I still don't see any future game we shouldn't be expected to win - right up to playing the Seahawks in the NFC championship, and as rotten as this game was, I would NOT bet against the Packers in a playoff rematch.

I appreciate the optimism, I really sincerely do, but I just can't share your sentiments aside from the cliche "well, it can't get any worse, so I guess that means it'll get better." Daniels and Guion were useless and thrown all over the place by the 'Hawks guards. Guion you can sort of explain away with his limited offseason, but Daniels is our self-proclaimed bell cow. Datone may have actually been the best DLineman in the game but that's not a compliment as much as acknowledging he may have been the least bad. As we all know, Brad Jones is a butter knife at a rocket launcher fight, and Hawk looked lethargic and un-athletic as ever.

We can run a 2-5, 3-4, ameoba, or whatever smoke and mirror scheme we can think of, but with this front 7 personnel I just see another season of 10 minute 4th quarter drives that our defense can't get off the field for.

The much more reasonable assumption is that Aaron Rodgers was playing within the game plan and made mistakes. In other words, he just wasn't good enough. It happens. If the Packers want to win against top opponents, Rodgers is going to need more help from the offensive line, the defense, and the coaches. He simply isn't good enough to win games against top defenses with more help, and he is really good. It just takes more than that.

I see both sides. The guys that look at the glass as half full and those that see it half empty.
True, the Seasquaks are the best. Look at what they did to the Broncos.
But the fact is, I believe most of us expected a MUCH better showing by the Packers then what we saw.
That, to me, is the biggest disappointment. They looked like they thought they were playing their 5th preseason game.
Yes, there are 15 games left. But if they don't improve IMMEDIATLY , their season will be over long before the 16th game is played.
So much promise leading into this season.

Objectively, that was pretty obvious all off season and for the past season or two. Things can change quickly depending on injuries and such. That's why it matters most how a team is going into the playoffs than week one. Things can change substantially by the end of the season. But all things equal, the Seahawks are simply a better team. They did what a much better team does to a lesser team. Not very surprising, imo.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
