Lots of communications breakdowns especially in the secondary it seemed. Last year all over again Ughhhh. What was up with shields? Rushed back too early?

It's amazing that this is the same Defense that faced the Patriots and the Eagles. Then again they did fairly well in the first half. I am not sure what they were doing at halftime, but they are really lucky we had a big lead. The Falcons were 4/4 on 4th downs which is down-right sad that we can't make the big play when needed most.

Defense definitely made a win feel like a loss. I think Capers should have blitzed Ryan earlier and more often. You take you chances with Julio but he was beating them anyway so you might as well get some hits on Ryan.

Anyway, it has been awhile since an elite receiver has done it to this defense. Hopefully it was an aberration.

I don't think we should discount the fact that Matt Ryan is a really good QB that stepped up to try to get back in the game. He showed great accuracy on a lot of passes with good coverage. It is really frustrating that all of these amazing passes were to just one receiver and the D did not have an answer.

Don't forget that the secondary made just as many amazing pass blocks on Julio but appeared to completely be lost on other plays. Was HaHa out of position a couple times? It would be nice to assume that the D learned alot from these mistakes.

Nerd is right, though, and I feel "smoke and mirrors" is a very appropriate term. In general, this D has succeeded thanks to some nifty schemes that led to short-term success like Nascar, and they've been the beneficiaries of big leads from the O shrinking the opponent's playbook. They still do not have the feel of a D that can impose their will and stop you whenever they choose.

I forget. Did the Packers win? From the amount of whining and complaining, I'm not sure.

If you remove pesky facts like the Packers had a big lead and were unstoppable offensively in the first half, I can see why all the teeth knashing. But the constant Defense bashing is like listening to complaints that Kate Upton is the fattest swimsuit model ever. Oh to have those problems...

That said, as fans, we all have hopes that this team can not only make but excel in the playoffs, and I find it hard to believe that a defensive performance like yesterday would beat many teams in the playoffs.

I don't feel it's out of the question to have questions and concerns about how a defense that's as healthy as we've seen here in GB in 5 seasons can get torched by a fairly one dimensional 5-7 team at home, and what the means heading into games against two playoff contenders in the next three weeks.

Last night the defense changed in the 2nd half and was sitting in softer zones, and doing less scheming to get after Ryan. Had the game been close that wouldn't have been the case.

Dom's been doing it with smoke and mirrors. That's been exposed on film for the entire league to see.

I know what you are saying.. and I don't think the Packers D is a above average unit.. very average overall and in some places probably below average. But what we do well is collect turnovers.. and we did that again last night. There are going to be games where we are going to have to outscore them.. but the same defense that limited Brady was exposed by a dominate receiver with a pretty good one on the other side. Honestly.. their are not many teams that can trot that out there in the NFC. Not a set of receivers with one like Julio on one side.

In other words.. Dom better keep polishing the mirrors.. because we are what we are. Opportunistic defense that will allow yards.
