This is how you don’t cover Jones. That’s him in the slot, with nothing but wide open space in front of him.

Shields is not in bad position for any of this. He stays behind the throw and Clinton-Dix plays over the top. The coverage is fine. But Ryan throws the ball behind Jones, and Shields never looks back for the ball.

House was in better position than Shields was, but the key here was that he looked back at the ball. Without that, this easily could have been a complete pass. This was a terrific play by House.



They gave Jones different looks and made adjustments at the half. There were a couple miscommunications, but more often than not, their torching had less to do with the playcalling and more to do with some poor defensive play.



I don't want to give too much but this is a great article focusing on how Julio Jones torched us in the second half of that game. Dusty also looks at some other plays, such as the late hit on Aaron and the play of Sam Barrington.
