Packers should go after DT Nick Fairley

The Lions have begun informing agents around the NFL that they're out of the mix for free agent Nick Fairley who turned 27 earlier this year. What value do you think he would add to the Packers?

I think he would be a good addition. It was being said that since he got his weight under control that he was one helluva force that you had to account for. The Packers need someone like that.

Maybe... Just maybe, I'd take a shot at him on a one year prove it contract.

He's had all the chances in the world to get it going, but he never managed to. That the Lions didn't even want to pick up his 5th year and now don't even want him back speaks volumes.

I recall him playing damn good against us. If he is healthy and if he is not terribly expensive, I'd take him. I think he will be pretty high priced, based on the fact that he ain't that much less a player than Suh.

Would fill a position of need on a team that is built nicely to win now.

Ideal world...one year prove it team but hasn't Fairley been cited before to having weight/motivation issues?

Move would be fairley impressive.

I've wanted to take a chance on Fairley if it's not too expensive as he's shown some pass rush (at least in a 4-3).

Of course Suh often got doubled team giving Fairley more one on one chances. So an in depth look at his tape might suggest he's not as good as his numbers because he was one on one more. And I think the Packers are more looking for a NT than a 3-4 DE right now and I'm thinking Fairly might fit more towards the 3-4 DE.
