I highly doubt I am alone in the the gripe over the delay between actual football after a score. Peter King took the time to measure it and I gotta say that four minutes feels like 15 minutes to me at times.

When I did the highlight videos, it was really annoying having to jump forward so much. If I knew of a place I could upload the full game, I would cut out all the garbage and just the game and the video would be probably nothing more than 90 minutes. NFL has come out with NFL Game Rewind so that venture is of course not needed.

I watched a few touchdowns followed by PATs, TV timeouts and touchbacks over the weekend on NFL Game Rewind, and this is an estimate of how much time there is several times per game when absolutely nothing happens:

PAT—About 55 seconds from the time a touchdown is scored until the time the ref signals for a TV timeout.
TV timeout—There are 20 per game, at 1 minute 50 seconds per timeout.
Touchback following the TV timeout—About 75 seconds from the time the game comes back from commercial to when the offensive team breaks the huddle and approaches the line for first down.

That’s exactly four minutes between plays of substance—the touchdown and the first play on the next series—assuming a PAT and a touchback. That’s a lot of nothing time. There were only 59 two-point conversions attempted last season, about 3.5 per NFL weekend. Those are fun plays, and the NFL should put a rule in place to encourage more of them. Pushing the PAT back is the first step in that direction. It may not be enough, but it’s better than the 19-yard gimme that exists now.

I believe there is about 7 minutes of "Action" in an N.F.L. game?

Action meaning the ball in play.

So what if players only make $1 million on average instead of $3 million?

Also the amount of commercials the first quarter is so ridiculous many times all I'm doing is channel surfing to watch something worthwhile.

If the NFL could only figure out how to only have commercials when I need a new drink or have to piss.

It's made Football Season Exercise Season for me. Plenty of time with absolutely nothing to do. Do some pushups and situps!

I switch between the Sunday games when the commercials come on, or I check on the weather, or go to the bathroom, or... I've never been a zombie, glued to the ads for beer, cars, and cheap auto insurance.

Also at the end of the day they show a montage of every touchdown scored that day. Honestly my favorite part of NFL Sunday, excluding the Packers game of course.
