If we can get someone on the D-line that can push the QB, to me thats what we most need to get. We got virtually NO pressure on opposing QB's last year, and that allowed them WAY too much time for WR's and TE's to get open. We have a good secondary, but you can only cover for so long and someone will get open.
If we again have no pass rush, we will find ourselves with the same problems this year.

Beatty was good against the Big East competition, but had major trouble against major talent in the senior bowl. Maybe mid second round at best.

Why does everyone want Malcolm Jenkins? It's effectively giving up on Pat Lee, last year's second rounder, whom I think has a lot of potential.

I think we should trade our first rounder and 3rd rounder or something like that to Philadelphia for their first rounders. Then trade the other 3rd rounder and 4th rounder into late 2nd round. Ideally, we could have:

William Beatty - 5th best OT in the draft
Tyson Jackson - DE spot opposite of Jenkins
Ron Brace - NT
Robert Ayers - OLB Tweener

That's our 4 biggest needs filled right there. We would still have 5th, 6th, 7th and any compensation picks the league will give us.

I agree with you on Brace; I'm not gun-ho over Raji like many people are. We rarely get such a good draft pick and I would prefer it be on a key play maker ie jenkins or brown IMO (prefer brown).

We can grab brace in the 2nd round and ya I think we should pick up a good O-line guy. And I also agree with Tyson Jackson - could be a real winner.

IMO that would make a great draft. The first round is the toughest all depends thou on what goes before us. I've heard that before that Brace allowed Raji to play so well.

IMO jenkins or Brown ... or bust ... worse case scenario stick Harrell's fat butt in the Dline - no more excuses about being injured 😉

Because Jenkins has been the best corner in the nation for years, and now he's finally entering the draft.

Pat Lee excels at press coverage, and with Capers as the DC, we'll start to stray from that.

Besides, you can never have too many good corners. The situation Philadelphia is in with their corners is one to be jealous of.

Also Jenkins can play S which he might be able to beat out Bigby at and start right away.... if they put him at S.

My guess is the challenge for Ted Thompson is to determine which players out there warrant a #9 pick and go from there.

If that ends up five players or whatever and one is available when it's his turn then jump on it. If not, then trade back and add another pick in the second round.

At least that way he is not reaching for a player AND ultimately PAYING them what a #9 will command when they aren't worth it. This way the added second round pick is almost like a freebie.

I have read here where some want both lines covered in the draft and I can pretty much tell you the only way that happens is if coincidentally they happen to be the best player available.

Your falling into the NEED trap but Ted Thompson will not follow.

Are we talking the whole draft here, or the #9 pick? That #9 pick has to come in day one and make an impact. I don't think a guy like Jenkins is a day 1 starter, but if we draft a tackle, we have a place for him. If we draft Raji, then I want him to play one of the DE positions.

I think Uncle Ted will trade back if he gets an offer he can't refuse. We draft right ahead of San Francisco, and if one of the top two quarterbacks are still there, we might just get that offer.

What's done in the rest of the draft is for Ted to decice, but I want a quality starter out of #9 not a project player.

Keep an eye on someone like Jamon Meredith in the 2nd or 3rd round for the Packers (especially if he slips just a little bit after the first run of OT's), if we don't go OT in the first. He seems like a TT/MM kind of guy: smart, experienced, and versatile (played both tackle positions as well as guard in college, out of necessity).

I would love something like:
1: Everette Brown
2. William Moore
3a. Jamon Meredith
3b. Ron Brace

It's not possible for Ron Brace to fall that low unless he really screws up in the combine. If B.J. Raji and Peria Jerry (maybe even Fili Moala) are the only better DTs than him. Jamon is probably avaivable at our later 3rd rounder.
