I thought it might be fun to do an mock offseason during this slow time of the year

I'll start:

Resign:
Don Barclay, OT
Mason Crosby, K
Letroy Guion, DE
Casey Hayward, CB
James Jones, WR
John Kuhn, FB
Mike Neal, LB
Nick Perry, LB
B.J. Raji, DT
Sean Richardson, S
James Starks, RB
Scott Tolzien, QB

Logic: Crosby is too good and should take a fair deal given how Packers kept him through his slump. I think Barclay, Guion, Starks, Kuhn are all good depth guys who could be resigned to reasonably short term deals. I think Hundley is QB of the future making Tolzien obsolete. Raji is still an above average DT and should be retained. I think Perry has more upside than Neal, and should be back with an incentive laden contract which would pay him starter money if he performs. Hayward will get starter money elsewhere.

Other moves:
Restructure Peppers contract. His cap hit is $10.5 million and I am not sure he is still that type of player. Restructure Masthay or bring in competition (I don't see him as significantly better than league average).

UFA:
1. Brandon Marshall - ILB. I think Trevathan will be the most sought after ILB but Marshall is also great. He would solidify our ILB and allow Matthews to primarily rush the passer (although I would still like to see Clay take 1/4 of his snaps from the inside just to make things interesting).

2. Vernon Davis - great buy low candidate. He is still a top level athlete. He just needs to get his head rights. He is the only potential elite difference maker available in FA or the draft. If he busts, then he can easily be cut.

Draft:
Tough to get a read on this. I've heard this is a weak draft for TEs. If there is a difference maker at ILB or pass rusher available in the first round I think we would go there early. I suspect we will bolster o-line depth in rounds two and three. I think the Packers will let the WR position shake out naturally. I see either Janis, Montgomery, Abberderis, and Adams all on equal footing at this point and suspect one will emerge as a legit #3 WR. I wouldn't be surprised to see GB go early at DT if Raji and Guion are not resigned as I am not sure they are sold on Datone Jones.

Starks makes alot of sense to me, with Lacy's career teetering before us, but I always felt like the staff just didn't like him for some reason.

I think Perry wants to be a DE somewhere.

I like Hayward alot, but I think he tests the market.

Resign:
Don Barclay, OT (One of the few backups whos as talented as he is versatile.)
Mason Crosby, K (One of the best kickers in the league. Pay the man.)
Letroy Guion, DE (officially done)
James Jones, WR (could be brought in and used as sparingly as Driver was in the twilight of his career)
John Kuhn, FB (could be brought in with an injury to Ripkowski)
B.J. Raji, DT (2nd priority FA behind Crosby.)
James Starks, RB (This is a wildcard here. His best value is in Green Bay, but that's up to his agent.)
Scott Tolzien, QB (If the Packers draft another QB, Tolzien's time is done. If they don't, he stays.)

UFA:
RB Matt Forte
IF we let James Starks walk, which is a big if, depending on Forte's price, I could see the Packers bringing in Matt Forte for a visit. When healthy, Forte has been extremely consistent despite poor line play in Chicago. This is a "price is right" kind of deal, and would only add more steam for Eddie Lacy to pick it up. Odds of this happening are 10%, as it would all depend on money, though Ted Thompson has shown that he's not afraid of signing older talent. If Forte wants to win a Super Bowl, Green Bay is an attractive destination.

TE Antonio Gates
Another older player officially passed his prime. Again, Thompson hasn't exactly shied away from older players, and despite his age, Gates is already an instant starter for us. He stretches the field and will be a target in the redzone that Rodgers can rely on. Remember, Atlanta traded for Tony Gonzalez at an old age too, and it made the Falcons all the more dynamic. Odds of this happening I think are 20% as I don't think he'll command much more

I'd also love Alshon Jeffrey, but I don't see that happening.

Trevathan is probably gonna sign for more money elsewhere. That and I think Ted likes what we have in Barrington and Ryan. We're probably gonna draft an ILB early. Then again, I said that last year.

An off-season should address immediate needs and prepare for the future. I think the below "mock" offseason does that...

Resign
K Mason Crosby -- Had a great year, but am I the only one worried about him missing game-closing kicks?
FB John Kuhn -- I'd bring him back for training camp, but he needs to earn his roster spot. Aaron Ripkowski is the future.
LB Mike Neal -- Good depth at DE and OLB.
RB James Starks -- No reason he can't continue to contribute.
QB Scott Tolzien -- I want my QB room as strong as possible.

Free Agency
TE Coby Fleener -- I think he has a lot of untapped potential. Had 51 receptions for 774 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2014 with a healthy Andrew Luck. That's a 15.2 yards per catch average. That's exactly the kind of production GB needs at TE.
OT Jake Long -- He never lived up to his potential, but he's good enough to be a viable backup swing tackle.
DT Damon Harrison -- Fortify the defensive line with Harrison at nose tackle. He's an outstanding run stopper, though he won't come cheap. Haloti Ngata might be a better option for Ted Thompson.
P Jon Ryan -- Because it's time to right a wrong.

Draft
Alabama ILB Reggie Ragland -- Best pure ILB in the draft. I think he might fall to the backend of round one, which gives the Pack a chance.
Notre Dame OL Nick Martin -- Groom him to replace Josh Sitton or T.J. Lang at guard, as it's likely one of them isn't back after 2016.
Utah RB Devontae Booker -- Even if Eddie Lacy rebounds in 2016, I'm not sure you want to invest in him as a long-term running back. Plus, I really like Booker. I think he's a steal in round three.
