Yes, he is above average. The condition is he has to be healthy and have a healthy LG, but by no means am I saying he's he'd start on any random 10 teams. His run blocking is freaking awful, pure awful.


Joe Thomas contract is interesting.

2016: $9.5 million
2017: $10 million
2018: $10 million

He has some roster bonuses and workout bonuses that add another $1.2 per year as well.

If looking solely at pass blocking, Bak seems to be above average to me. No he's not near the very top either but he might be top 16 in the NFL (which is above average).

I honestly don't get why people keep suggestion Bak (who struggles with power moves and power part of the game) belongs at a position where there are more power moves and power parts of the game. Bak's strength is his quickness (and normally successfully getting away with holds on the outside), as Bak openly admitted and seemed to embrace, he's a finesse player... normally you want maulers and physical battlers at OG and RT, that's not Bak.

Last year was the first year Bahktiari was as good as "average" for a LT.

Why do you think he'd have more trouble playing on the right side, I'm curious. I'd much rather have him on the right side than the left. To me, the only reason he should be playing on the left right now is that the team has no one better. Not because he is as good as you want a LT to be.

Oh, and 16th out of 32 is "above average" only because there are an even number of teams, and so "average" is 16.5.
