The Packers have two coveted GM candidates. The Green Bay Packers’ continued run of success on the field has extended to their front office.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, director of football operations Eliot Wolf and director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst plan to interview for the San Francisco 49ers’ vacant general-manager position.

On Sunday, the 49ers fired long-time GM Trent Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly, creating a void at the two biggest positions in the organization. The team appears likely to interview numerous outside candidates for general manager as well as in-house option Tom Gamble. In pursuit of that goal, the team has made arrangements to sit down with two of the Packers’ top front-office executives.

Wolf, the 34-year-old son of Hall of Fame general manager Ron Wolf, has received consideration as a general manager in recent years. The Detroit Lions reportedly tried to interview him last offseason but did not receive permission from Wolf’s current team. However, the Packers
cannot prevent Wolf from interviewing this time around. Though not confirmed, offseason reports indicate that Green Bay considers Wolf the heir apparent to current general manager Ted Thompson. Wolf first joined the Packers as a pro personnel assistant in 2004.

Like Wolf, Gutekunst has also worked his way up the ranks of the Packers’ front office in recent years. He began his scouting career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1998 before arriving in Green Bay the following season. He has remained with the organization since that time, moving up from regional scout to his current position in 2012.

The Packers front office has produced numerous general managers in recent years. In addition to Thompson, who served with the team as an assistant during the 1990s before returning in 2005, current GMs John Schneider (Seattle Seahawks), Reggie McKenzie (Oakland Raiders), John Dorsey (Chiefs), and Scot McCloughan (Washington) began their scouting careers in Green Bay.

The Packers should offer them Ted Thompson for a bag of practice balls, keep the young blood and move on.🤬

It would be hard to swallow if our heir apparent is signed away by the 49'ers. I wonder if they offer Wolf the job if he'll allow the Packers the opportunity to match and Thompson does agree to step down this offseason.

I can't see Murphy having the balls to fire T.T. just to promote Wolf early, it would be very shrewd and some part of T.T. would have to respect it haha. But T.T. is a proven builder to fire the steady hand for a young gun who could flop is not how you become president of the greatest NFL franchise.

Its a win-win for Wolf, his power play will get him a GM gig somewhere. This offseason probably but next year at the latest imo.

The 49ers just don't scare me when it comes to interviewing Packers people.

49ers "mutually" parted ways with a Head Coach that made them a contender.

49ers fired the hand picked replacement after one season.

49ers fired the next head coach before he finished a full season.

They just fired their General Manager (obviously, that's why they are interviewing), but this team is quickly becoming the West Coast Browns.

Why would you leave a stable franchise that you know you're going to inherit the reigns in a year (maybe sooner) or two for a cesspool? Maybe I'm seeing this wrong. Maybe that cesspool is exactly the challenge someone would want instead of taking over something your daddy started decades prior?

Personally, anyone who chooses 49ers over the Packers isn't someone I want running the Packers anyway. That shows piss poor judgment!!

York is a two-faced scum. The reason GB cant block the interview is because York is purporting that his GM will have final say over personnel. He said this ONLY so that Wolf and others similarly situated could not be blocked by their teams; but York cant be believed. Only thing worse than a Jerry Jones meddler is a Jerry Jones meddler who says he doesn't meddle. York is already interviewing HCs even though he has no GM.

Odds of Wolf leaving: below zero, minus 1 trillion billion zillion. Guntekust: 1 in a million.

Let's say you have a highly successful mentor who is teaching you everyhing he knows. This dude is bringing you up through the ranks, out of loyalty to your dad.

Are you going to turn around and force him out of his job like that? I mean damn, sit another year, two max. They will hand you the keys.

Dude is coming across as a greedy little bitch, imo. Not sure I want him in charge if that's the type of character he has. Ted didn't HAVE to bring him up like that. To me, it suggests that Wolf is not ready to fill those shoes.

It's a cheap power play. If they wanted an asshole running things, they could have had John Jones instead of Murphy.

beast (17-May) : Not sure why a players views reflect on GB... instead of simply on the player
Martha Careful (17-May) : I bet some of us have had 6+ mRNA jabs, a UKR flag on our walls, and still think Fauci has a thread of integrity
Zero2Cool (16-May) : From what I've read, it's all Jets , not us.
CanPackFan (16-May) : Will there ever be a time when Rodgers' whacko views will not reflect on GB? He is the past, thank god.
Zero2Cool (16-May) : Jan 4th gonna be rough with that start time lol
Zero2Cool (16-May) : Packers schedule listed. Boom.
buckeyepackfan (15-May) : Let the leaks begin. Colts @ Packers week 2, Vikings @ Packers week 4
Zero2Cool (14-May) : WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Bills
Zero2Cool (14-May) : Jets and Aaron Rodgers open up on Monday Night Football,
Zero2Cool (13-May) : $170 guaranteed. This might impact Jordan Love
Zero2Cool (13-May) : Lions are signing QB Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million extension
Zero2Cool (13-May) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
