nerd, God love him, has insisted Jordy be moved to TE because he "doesn't have it" anymore. I will admit that I would've been totally on board after 6-8 games of this season with his statement...not the crazy TE thing but the fact he didn't have it anymore. Jordy started to bounce back late in the season. Supposedly, it takes 2 years for a guy to feel like himself after such a horrific injury. That is what players who have been through it will say, anyway.

However, Jordy is nearing the end. Perhaps, we squeeze another year or two out of him but I believe his effectiveness is going to free fall past two more seasons.

We all know Randall Cobb has been underperforming his contract since he signed it and that Davante had a rebound year this year but we don't really know who he is yet.

Personally, I'm troubled knowing our Top 3 WR's consist of an aging Jordy Nelson, an underperforming Randall Cobb, and a schizophrenic Adams who isn't quite reliable with his hands or just in general yet. Behind those guys sits such titans as Geronimo Allison, Trevor Davis and Jeff Janis. That's a pretty weak 6 right there especially if Jordy declines and Randall doesn't regain form. Adams is no #1 so we're really in a bad spot over the long haul. Cook clearly mitigated Nelson's loss during our playoff run. A full 17 week schedule ain't going to work with these guys, I don't think.

All in all, I think WR is a HUGE need for this team. We have a lot of huge needs but this certainly is one of them to me.

Are you comfortable rolling into next season with what we currently have on the roster? I would LOVE seeing another 2nd round WR. I really like Zay Jones and Cooper Kupp is another very intriguing option that will elicit Jordy 2.0 comparisons. Heck, I'd love to see us pry Antonio Brown from the Steelers. Forget Bell... Brown would be the kind of player to use your big move on. Whether FA, or high draft pick, I believe we really need to protect ourselves at WR. What we were facing heading into Atlanta was ridiculous.

Needs are:
CB
RB
LB

It may well be that in 2 years the whole WR corps falls apart. Ted can draft a WR and it won't break my heart.
However these other positions are in need now not 2 years from now and can't wait. It is possible to get a CB in the 1st, a RB in the 3rd and the WR you like in the 2nd. I would prefer to wait on the reciever.

Can't see Ufda's post, but he's right. Jordy is a slim TE/possession guy now. Cobb doesn't have it. Monty plays a different position. Looks like it's up to Davante. He needs to prove he can get deep consistently.

Having Cook (and Aaron Rodgers) helps.

Still, it takes two (at least) years for a guy to get up to speed at this position. I still like Trevor Davis, btw. He needs to take a step.

We have the receiving power now assuming Cook is back. Jordy and Adams are both 1000 yard guys, Cobb is about 800, Cook should get 600 or more, Monty out of the backfield probably 300-400. Allison, Davis and who ever replaces Janis contribute and we have plenty of passing offense.

We always have guys developing, but if the right player is found it is always time to improve.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

WR isn't a bigger need than we envision. You give Aaron Rodgers a stout OL and he'll make the WR much better. The defense is a bigger need than we envision, and that's with us envisioning it as a big need.
