Had PFF's highest grade of the game.

S Josh Jones, 89.2 overall grade

Jones was a step late on the slant for Corey Coleman’s touchdown grab but he made amends for that down the stretch, only surrendering an insane one-handed grab to Seth DeValve on an off-target Deshone Kizer throw. Coleman broke up the third-down pass to David Njoku that would’ve allowed Cleveland to come closer to running out the clock at the end of regulation and then made the overtime interception from Kizer, rising up over the pile to snag the turnover. Combined with the late second quarter pass defense against Josh Gordon, Jones provided the key late game plays on defense to setup Davante Adams’ game winning plays on offense.

Josh Jones clearly has a future, though if it's at SS or coverage ILB still could be an interesting debate.

While Jones only officially had 4 starts in the first 12 games, he also had the 7th most total snaps (O, D & ST) of anyone on the team, including the 6th most pure defense snaps. Only ones ahead of Jones with most total snaps is S Clinton-Dix, LB Martinez, OG Evans, C Linsley, OG Taylor and WR Adams.

For defense only snaps; S Clinton-Dix, LB Martinez, CB Randall, CB House and OLB Matthews have more snaps than Jones on defense.

Even though I didn't know much about him, I was glad GB drafted him. In another year or two he may really be something special.

It will be interesting to see how they play the Panthers... on one hand Panthers have one of the best running attacks, which could use Jake Ryan in run support. On the other hand, they recently got TE Greg Olsen back and also have talented speed receiver RB Christian McCaffrey who leads them in catches, both could use some coverage help with especially since House is out.

My general thinking is go with Jones, because while the Panthers don't seem to have a strong #2 WR, they have Ed Dickson starting and Olsen coming back from injury with Devin Funchess on the outside. Though 4 could keep our DBs busy... and still going to need some speed to keep McCaffrey contained.

Also this game will be huge for the Packers front guys to stop the running game, see if Clark, Daniels, Matthews, Perry, Lowry, and Brooks can step up to the plate. Possible, maybe a surprise of the game, seeing Fackrell in coverage against a TE... that way they get some move beef in there but also some potential coverage on a tall length TE... again, not full time.

I've been interested in seeing Jones playing the hybrid SS/ILB since he was drafted, but I'm not so certain anymore. The more I see him the more I think he might be a perfect FS. He has height to compete for deep jump balls, he has speed to cover sideline to sideline. If he becomes more instinctive I think he will be able to cover the deep field not having to keep 2 deep as much allowing the defense to be more aggressive and close some of the holes shallow.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.

Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.

Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
