Ever think that maybe the search firm has the job of recommending all the candidates who won't agree to interview. Their job is to bring candidates for the org to choose from? Nowhere.

My guess is they'll do their one Rooney Rule candidate and announce Ball saying they were interested in a lot of guys but, to quote Ted, it's just kinda the way it worked out.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

They'll end up paying that search firm at the very least six, if not seven or even eight, figures -- depending on whether the headhunters charge by the hour/day or a standard 30% finder's fee (I'm guessing it's the latter). There's no way they're shelling out that kind of cash for a list of candidates who don't want to interview.

I would say based on the Schneider and Eric DeCosta requests they have donethat. You're also assuming and wrongly so that every request and candidate is a known to us. Once the process plays out we will know more.

Not only would Korn Ferry NEVER accept such a engagement, but Packers couldn't afford to look that stupid if word from a porous home office ever leaked. No chance.

They are a top rated, world class organization.

Not just world class, but international in scope. There is no way they'd sully their reputation with such an absurd commission. They're not that desperate for money. They're not desperate, period. Potential clients seek them out.

I split these posts into this thread. The title was created by me, so if you don't like it, blame me. Go ahead and discuss the Korn Ferry angle to this.

This firm is paid to present their recommendations to Murphy for his consideration. It indeed could be just a smoke screen for GB to cover their ass. As Thompson has not altogether left from the Packers employ, I fear he still exerts his influence regarding his replacement. I fear that some part of this story has yet to be revealed. Much is going on behind closed doors that we not hear about for years,

Hiring someone that clearly rubs people the wrong way, like Russ Ball, would be a bad mistake in many ways.

I still support Elliot Wolf for GB's next GM.

beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
