I don't know a lot about Burks either. He does have youth, speed, and at 6'3" he has good height. He can and most likely will add 10 to 15 lbs of muscle to his already 233 lb weight.

I expect to see him on Special Teams for his 1st season as he learns and bulks up some. I don't see him challenging for a starting spot, but others like Biegel had better be ready to challenge Ryan for his ILB spot.

Burks could be a starter by the 2019 Season.

Also with Pettine's new scheme, I think it might ask the ILBers to be more aggressive, and Ryan depending on what they're asked to do, Ryan might be a much better fit in Pettine's defense than Cappers defense.

And they need Biegel at OLB... he might be their #3 OLB right now... or at the very least competing for it.... no reason to move him to a less used and less important role, just because it has a "starters" label... as the 3rd OLB usually gets plenty of playing time and might be more important.

Someone pissed in the Clique’s Cornflakes this morning? 😂😂😂 Gee, whizzzzz! 😂

I guess we’ll 🇷🇪start here: RARELY [And I’ve been told this has NEVER occurred before] has a team traded-up for a player in Rnd 1 and that player had no idea the team had interest. Wouldn’t inquiring minds find this interesting and remarkable and at least be able to wonder, even if incapable of discussion, if this unprecedented/wildly creative execution was positive, negative or something between?

Maybe one needs less character info if the prospect is a golden boy like Jordy. Jaire trash talks and some call it swagger; maybe it is. I would say his post game twits with Syracuse WR Ishmael was the work of a punk; maybe its not. And sure humans make mistakes, was it Josh Allen that posted the racists stuff years ago? A GM needs to find out if these foibles are simple "human mistakes" or a fundamental defect in character. Like Nerd said, Randall ended up being a head case, dont ya gotta do everything possible to try to ferret this out? There's only 1 way for an organization to learn with greatest accuracy what makes a player tick; he MUST do his due diligence with background checks and get the kid in several situations where his inner person can be revealed. Who does not know that this routinely occurs? Who finds this not the optimum behavior for a GM? Well Gutekunst FAILED to do these background checks and conducted only minimum meetings with the kid. Obviously, this says NOTHING about how bad Jaire may or may not be; but is this the BEST way for a GM to conduct his affairs?

Note: There is no contradiction. A mentally under developed cavemen may only be able to grunt “fire good.” However, a fully developed mentally stable enlightened human understands fire is good for providing warmth; but also understands fire can also be bad, or very bad, especially if you’re a 1690s Salem witch.

A GM should not blab in a way that undermines his credibility or reveals his tradecraft; he needs to be secretive. But, I’m arguing he should not be so secretive that he fails to perform critical and necessary due diligence on a first round pick. So like fire or most things in life a BALANCE is optimum.

[Waving a gold pocket dangling on a change back and forth] You will love all that Gute does…You will love all that Gute does” Okay that’s pretty funny 😂 😂.

You assume that because someone who claims to know someone else says they didn't know the Packers were interested that it means they didn't ask questions. The truth is you have no idea how much research into Alexander Gute did or did not do, and you have no idea who may or may not have known about his interest.

One part of the research is watching tape and that can be done without anyone knowing. If there is enough there to warrant continued interest you can learn a lot just by listening and talking to people on the fringes. If nothing there raises red flags and you are determined to keep your interest a secret there may be no need to dig any further.

But I am sure you are correct. I'm sure what really happened is Gute decided all on his own with no input from anyone else that he was going to draft Alexander no matter what and he wasn't going to risk letting anyone in on his plan so he didn't ask anyone a single question about him.

To me it suggests they weren’t actually targeting him, but he was a fall back scenario.

I mean, someone offers you an extra first, you gotta take it.

I think he’ll be fine.

First thread it was too much talking, now it's too much secrecy. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with you.

All this bullshit is based off the fact that an agent didn't know the Packers were interested in his client...

To that I say: Who gives a Bears' ass? and how the hell does it matter?
A CB's agent, failing to know a CB desperate team is interested in a CB...
This is not a Packers problem... this is an agents problem.

The Packers didn't bring him in for a pre-draft visit... boo hoo... get over it!

When is the last time you remember the Packers have brought any of their first round selections in for a predraft visit? Last one I remember for pretty sure was A.J. Hawk, when they had a top 5 pick... otherwise they normally don't. Heck, I think (I'm not sure, but I think) Hawk, Finley and Burks might be the only guys that the Packers have brought in that have been selected in the top 3 rounds by the Packers.

Think Kevin King or Josh Jones agents knew the Packers were interested in them?
Answer: Most likely, no one cares!

All this is Barnfarn bitching, that Nagler's "friend" didn't known in advance... and that's not a Packers story or the Packers fault...

I would think you would use your visits with players that are kind of a fringe, or that you have plethora of questions on.

Example being, if this were the '89 draft, I wouldn't bring in Barry Sanders because I already know he's a stud. I would bring in other guys that I wasn't as sure on just to cover my bases in case someone dropped.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
