Stenavich has worked under LaFleur mentor Kyle Shanahan during that time, making the connection between him and the Packersā head coach clear. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reports that Shanahan has agreed to allow Stenavich to interview with the Packers, presumably because the move would be an upward one for him.
In addition, Stenavich has some Packers-specific connections. According to his bio on 49ers.com, he is a Marshfield native. Stenavich also spent about six weeks on the Packersā practice squad in 2006, his first year out of college, and he was an All-Big Ten left tackle for the University of Michigan in 2004 and 2005.
Another name mentioned in connection with the Packers is former Jetsā offensive line coach Rick Dennison, who has extensive experience as an NFL offensive coordinator. Dennison worked with Mike Shanahan with the Denver Broncos for over a decade, serving as a special teams coach, offensive line coach, and offensive coordinator. He later joined up with Gary Kubiak in Houston as offensive coordinator, following him to Baltimore and back to Denver.
