With the obvious need at WR, and Kumerow on the Bills practice squad, why haven’t the Packers claimed him and shored up their WR need? He knows the plays, and could be put in immediately.
Plus Rodgers likes and trusts him.
I mean, St. Brown hasn’t done anything. And MVS has been very inconsistent. Kumerow almost always made the catch. He wasn’t flashy, but dependable.
Especially if Lazard can’t come back this week.
Just my thoughts.

My only guess conclusions is that either someone rather try to develop someone knew instead of signing Kumerow (which you can do both), or Kumerow feels Packers won't stick with him long term, so he's trying to make it on a different team.

So either Packers are sticking with their guns to more forward without him (like they did with Nelson), or Kumerow doesn't want to resign with the Packers at this time.

You're looking at this left handed and upside down and inside out. (I am sorry to all you Southpaws.)
There are roughly 160 WR positions in the NFL. No one has deemed Kumerow worthy of a roster spot.
Currently Buffalo has 6 WR on the 53 and another on IR. They have had ample opportunity to bring him to to the regular roster and have not done so. The 4,5 and 6th WR are not world beaters. Gabriel Davis 15 receptions /205 yards/ 2 td, Isaiah McKenzie 14/113/1 and Andre Roberts 2/16/0. Roberts was a 3rd round pick a few years ago. But his on the bottom of their depth chart so he's not untouchable.
The question is why has no one selected him? The answer is, contrary to the opinion of fans, Jake isn't good enough. 2018 his PFF grade was 59. 2019 it was slightly better at 63.4 which means at best he's barely average. But that doesn't come from his receiving grade. In 2018 he caught 9 of 12 and in 2019 12/21. That's an average of only 62.5% boys and girls. His PFF grade more than likely comes from his blocking skills.

EQ has only caught 1 of 5 but the jury is still out on him. He will probably be given the rest of the year to get up to speed. Malik 4/5 so he catches the ball when it is thrown to him. He's not taking Lazard's place and that leaves MVS. 18/39 is pretty terrible but he has the speed that Jake doesn't have. Jake's 29 now so more than likely he is slowing down. If that's possible. I recall he wasn't very fast to begin with. MVS's 17.4 avg per catch is 2nd on the team to Lazard's 19.5. Among his duties MVS runs the go route. Jake won't be called to do that. That is also part of the reason for a lower reception average. He and Aaron have to be in sync for it to be successful. At times Aaron has overthrown and also under-thrown the ball. He did on the deep td pass to MVS. If you remember MVS had to slow down, almost stop completely and reach back for the ball just before crossing the goal line. If the defender had been there the ball would have been knocked down or intercepted.

In the past 10 years GB has had dozens of receivers the fans have begged to keep. Almost none of them amounted to anything after they were released. Not even as WR5 or WR6.

Aaron tossed Kumerow a complement but Aaron gives complements to the lesser players all the time. He didn't have a meltdown when Jake was released.

Time to move on guys.

But you make a good point, it's not just Kumerow, why can't Packers find better WRs in general?

I forget his name, buy Lions released a WR, Packers claimed him, then released him and Eagles claimed, released and resigned to PS, but then called up to the 53. I read he's done pretty well...

WR TRAVIS FULGHAM has 29 catches for 435 yards this season and we released him. Only Adams for the Packers is doing better than that.

As to Shepherd, Begelton, et al, I don't get caught up too much in that. GB won 6 times despite having quality WRs and MVS drops. They would still have lost the Tampa and vikie games even with someone like Kumerow sitting on the bench.

Considering our WR situation, I'd give both my left nuts ( yes I have 2 ) to have Kumerow back right now.

Anyway, as I said, Kumerow knows the plays, and Rodgers knows him. Wouldn’t that make him a little more valuable if you have to plug a WR in right away? Even as a short term help to the team. He wouldn’t take weeks to get up to speed.
Is he a #1? No. But considering what we have when Adams or Lazard are hurt, having a guy that can jump in and help I would think would be valuable.
Could it be the Packer brass is just being stubborn? Not wanting to admit they kind of messed up letting him go, when they didn’t do anything in the draft WR wise?

I'd take Kumerow over Shephard or Begelton, but not Malik.

Then again, Shephard and Begelton have thst different body type. Smaller, quicker guys. Change direction and whatnot.

We've already got these taller rangy dudes. Plus Shephard returns punts.

IF he was GB would be talking to his agent. Is the GB brass stubborn? Absolutely not. This is a "what have you done for me recently?" league. If it wasn't Uncle Teddy, health issues aside, would still be GM and McCarthy would still be HC. The organization moved on from them because they weren't doing the job. Gute and MLF would have Kumerow on the team if they thought he was an upgrade. If not, they are the ones who don't belong in the league. As far as Jake knowing the playbook, that was last year. They are running a whole series of new ones this year. And even when he did know the plays, he didn't do squat. I fail to see the love for a guy who had 219 yards last year. Remember, no one else wants him either. One of the questions for last year is: he was targeted 21 times but how many times was he on the field? Over the full season it is in the hundreds. Plural. In all that time he was only targeted 21 times. Why? More than likely he was not getting open.

I’m not sure whether or not we should have kept Kumerow or not, but sometimes it’s nice to have guys around who can just get it done who may not be high ceiling guys but you know you’re going to get a consistent performance.

In the case of the bottom of your bench it seems to me that we should just want guys who can come in and give you reps.
