The first day of the NFL Draft is typically a very busy day for all NFL teams, with plenty of newsworthy events. For the Packers, though, Thursday was definitely a day filled with more intrigue than usual. The day started with the report that Aaron Rodgers is upset with the Packers and doesn't want to return to the team. When a report like that involves the reigning MVP, it is obviously a huge story, and it dominated the sports news for most of the day. This is an issue that we have been working on for several months. Brian Gutekunst, Matt LaFleur and I have flown out on a number of occasions to meet with Aaron. We are very much aware of Aaron's concerns and have been working with him (and his agent Dave Dunn) to resolve them. We remain committed to Aaron in 2021 and beyond. He is not only a tremendously talented player, but has developed into a true leader for us. The relationship that Aaron has forged with Matt and the other offensive coaches has propelled us to the brink of the Super Bowl in two straight years. We look forward to competing for another Super Bowl championship with Aaron as our leader.

Oh, and by the way, we drafted a pretty good player in the first round, in cornerback Eric Stokes from the University of Georgia. We had him rated very highly and I saw a lot of smiles on the faces of both scouts and coaches when the pick was announced. The way our game has evolved, you never have enough good cornerbacks.

Now, on to your questions…

Mark Murphy mentions the report about Aaron Rodgers not wanting to return to the Packers. And he doesn't deny it to be true. That is kind of a gut punch. I mean, I assumed it was legit, but he had a chance to deny it and didn't.

That’s what I said since this story came out.
Neither side is denying it.

So how does this end up???

Aaron Rodgers at the Kentucky Derby. He declined to talk to NBC. Mike Tirico says Rodgers told him he was "disappointed that news has come out of this rift with the Packers." Tirico says Rodgers expressed how much he loves Green Bay.

Mike Tirico on Aaron Rodgers: "He expressed a couple times how much he loves Green Bay, loves the fans, loves the franchise. There is a chasm between management and the reigning NFL MVP. We're just not sure how this is going to play out..."

Matter of fact, anyone with the intials M&M should not be allowed to step foot in GB

As long as Murphy stays out of football decisions, I couldn't care less how long he's with the Packers. If Murphy is making football decisions, or dissuading football decisions, he can kick rocks.

Sometimes, it is better to stick with the enemies you know. Just think, it could have been worse than Murphy. e.g John Jones.

Green Bay - One of the two worst decisions Bob Harlan made in almost two decades leading the Green Bay Packers was hiring John Jones in 1999 and then wasting eight years grooming him to be his successor.

Harlan, however, finally saw the light at the 11th hour and pulled the pin on Jones as president before he would have started causing irreparable damage to the franchise and ruined Harlan's legacy.

Even before his serious heart problems rendered him incapable of a full workload, Jones never measured up.

Jones always was more about image than substance. He talked down to people in the office and community without having the goods to back it up. He lacked the traits generally associated with leadership in a position that demands them.

It was a classic illustration of the Peter Principle at work.

Still, Harlan and the Packers might have made their tragic mistake had it not been for a telephone call last spring from an executive in the National Football League office imploring the club not to send Jones to any more meetings in New York because his energy level and ability to focus had been so compromised by his health issues.

It crystallized for the executive committee that Jones couldn't continue, led to the $3 million settlement in full of the final three years on Jones' contract and brought the 71-year-old Harlan back from the edge of retirement.

Second chances don't come around that often in life. But the men and women on the Packers' 45-member board of directors have received one, and for the welfare of the franchise it's incumbent upon them this time to get it right.

I quit on the NFL years ago.
If it hadn't hadn't been for the Green Bay Packers being my team since1956 I wouldn't pay any attention to the NFL .
Now I find myself not even being interested in the Green Bay Packers.
Mostly it's the greed involved or perhaps my age but my interest is seriously waning.
The Aaron Rodgers situation has me falling off my square.

Right now considering how bad the Detroit Tigers are and the Aaron Rodgers debacle I’m just feeling down on sports in general.

How much of it is fact, how much is overblown to get views, who knows?

As of right now, they've made this simple... they're not getting rid of Aaron Rodgers. So Rodgers has three choices...
• Show up
  • Not show up
  • Make a big public fuss
• Clearly the ugly option is the big public fuss, but both the Packers and Rodgers seem to be at least currently attempting to avoid that one as much as possible. I mean this was apparently known pretty well in NFL circles for MONTHS but not leaked to the public until some jerk Vikings announcer tried to make headline news... which his report turned out to be false... but the fact the Rodgers became public and question, that started the race for writers to get their story out there.

So it seems like it's going to be one of the first two.

Zero2Cool (15h) : $170 guaranteed. This might impact Jordan Love
Zero2Cool (15h) : Lions are signing QB Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million extension
Zero2Cool (18h) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (18h) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
    Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
    Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
    Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
    Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
    Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
    Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son

buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though

Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
    Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
    Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
