With the trade officially done, it feels like we can finally hone in on the draft without the caveat of "Depending on the Jets trade." Thanks to the aforementioned trade, GB is now sitting at #13 in the draft. My understanding of this draft is that it's a pretty weak one: 8-10 blue chip guys with a large drop off in the first with a lot of solid talent in the 2nd and early 3rd round before another drop. Specifically, there's said to a be solid crop of TEs, Edge rushers and CBs in this range. So sitting at #13, should Gute trade up or down?

If Gute decides to trade down, I think he should run with the concept and go 10+ back (most likely with a playoff team looking for the elusive "missing piece"). Sitting in the 20s, GB could easily scoop up a player that they liked at #15 but felt didn't warrant picking there (Branch, Mayer etc) and scoop up an additional 2nd rounder (too lazy to look up the trade chart to figure out specifics) in the process. With three 2nd rounders, GB could easily snag a pair of TEs and a Edge rusher. Going further in this scenario, it's conceivable that Gute could trade up from their spot in the 3rd to for a fourth 2nd rounder and try to maximize their shots at this drafts strong area.

Going further, I would argue that Gute should seriously entertain trading out of the round all together for a future first rounder in 2024 (plus whatever other draft capital they can get). Doing so would most likely give GB three 1st round picks next year in a supposed loaded draft class .

Definitely trade down. There's not much of a drop off between #13 and the third round.

However, I don't think it is realistic that they would not have a first round pick.  That action would send a message to the team and fan base "we are tanking it",   And I think management wants to be very careful not to do that.   Trading Bakhtiari would send the same message, even though that might be the right thing to do.

I too have heard how few quality 1st round players are available.
Let's say 10. With the Packers sitting at 13 one of them may be there. There will be a few QBs taken even if they are not blue chip caliber.
This means Gutey will probably wait until the last few minutes before trading back. Problem is he will need a partner willing to climb up to 13 and pay for the privilege. It's what makes Day 1 so interesting.

All I have to say is he wanted that 13th pick for a reason, and I think he has a target he is after and I am going on record it will be an OT and not a wr at 13. I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade up ahead of the Texans, even move all the way to 10 with the Eagles.  OT or Kincaid will be the first pick.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Zero2Cool (30-May) : Bears are the first team to be selected for Hard Knocks
dfosterf (29-May) : Andy Herman and his Pack a day podcast put up GB strengths yesterday. This morning he did weaknesses. They are both very good.

Zero2Cool (13-May) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
