One good thing about the Packers coming off a 6-10 season is that Rodgers could benefit from a 11-5 season (Very Possible) after a 6-10 season. The reward would be in MVP Votes.

I think Rodgers has a very serious shot at MVP This Year.

1) His numbers were very good last year in a season where the D did not help him and we lost so many games by so few points. The record kind of held him out of the lime light even though his numbers were very good.

2) It will be his second year under centre, and that means better stats, and better decisions on the field.

3) His WR Corps. They are going to make him look spectacular, even though he is going to be great.

4) Aaron's INT's will be the lowest in the NFL. I believe that. Look at the start he had last year, was it 5 games out of the gate without an INT? More experience equals less than last year, and perhaps a longer streak.

5) The New D means more wins, and perhaps four final drives that will stand up as game winning drives. A key stat in MVP consideration.

I see a PRO BOWL as a lock....

I can see a MVP in his second year as a starter.

And I am not looking through gold and green sun glasses.

That would be a spectacular accomplishment indeed. Has anyone in the history of the NFL ever won the MVP in their second year as a starter?

To be honest I don't think he has a chance at MVP unless two things happen.

1) One great year by him including a good or great team record which is possible.

2) No body else really steps up. I mean last year Manning won... but he didn't really seem to have an MVP year at least to me. I think Drew Brees was the clear MVP in my book but playing with a bad defense and offense that had most of it's starters injured.

But I do agree the 6-10 to better with help the Rodgers hype more than if he was just good to start off with.

Dan Marino was drafted in 1983 and won MVP honors in 1984. A true second year MVP.

Kurt Warner won MVP honors in his first year starting in 1999, after being a backup in 98, and playing in Europe before then.

I think saying Rodgers will have an MVP year is stretching it a bit, i do believe he will have a pro-bowl year, and improve overall in 2009. I do not however think he will have much better stats in 2009, but feel the win/loss record will be a lot better because of an overall improved team. But i would love him to prove me wrong on all points =)

I think the MVP is already decided to be totally honest. The media darling Tom Brady coming back and the Pats make the Super Bowl its a dead lock he is MVP regardless of stats. Just how it goes these days. Its all about the media and Brady has them wrapped around a finger. Just look at the Sports Illustrated cover after the Indy 500, it is usually reserved for the winner of the 500 but this year it was Brady in training camp.

So i don't see Rodgers having a chance.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

You know the obsession and the media with Northeast teams. Just give Rodger's his Super Bowl ring and it will happen.

I also see pro bowl at 90% possibility.

He might, haze.

The whole "following a legend" aspect makes him quite likable to the media. If we had done something last year, record-wise, Aaron would be far more of a media darling than he is now. The kid is made for TV and interviews, he brings the correct amount of humility to the table, etc. He interviews well, in other words.

I would say you are right about Tom Brady right now- Coming off the injury, etc.

It is going to be all about respective team accomplishments, instead of individual ones, if it is "close" in the individual accomplishment department.

imo

Edit-- And IF we were to improve dramatically this year as a team, that 6-10 would HELP his chances, not hurt them, probably. I think the national perspective is that Rodgers was part of the solution, not part of the problem...last year. He will have a very sympathetic audience if things turn around for the Pack as a whole.

Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.

Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.

buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
