This injury to Flynn has come at a bad time, we really need to find out more about him from his playing. I don't think he should be replaced though. However Brohm's a big concern and we need to find someone steadier as a third stringer.

why would we want McCown i would perfer Byron Leftwich seeing he was in the Super Bowl last year and i believe he can be a solid backup if needed. Thats just my thoughts and we know noone pays attention to them 😛
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Of the Tampa quarterbacks I agree with you, though I'd be curious as to who else around the league is available. Thigpen would be a decent option. If Flynn's injury is more severe than they're reporting and they have to go get another qb I hope they put Flynn on IR to see if Brohm can make any progress by his third year.

I find somewhat amusing the implicit distrust of Rodgers' durability that lurks behind threads such as these. When Favre was at the helm, no one gave a shit who the backup was because everyone (rather arrogantly, when you think about it -- and yes, I was guilty of the same arrogance) simply assumed he'd always be there. But now that Rodgers has the reins, people are fretting about the backup situation -- the third-string quarterback, no less. The fact is, as others have pointed out, if we get down to our third stringer, our season is probably over anyway. It's a rare year indeed when a Kurt Warner or a Tom Brady can step in in relief of the starting quarterback and lead his team to the Super Bowl. Perhaps Ted Thompson has built up such a solid cadre of talent that Matt Flynn could take the Packers to the big dance, but the odds are against it.

I'm not advocating we be naive, but I do find the change in focus interesting.

Just seems like a smart move to have something behind Rogers. He did have some injuries early in his career, without much playing time. And he hasn't done it for nearly two decades. I don't think an injured Flynn and Brohm are the answers. At least not yet.
