Firing him now wouldn't change anything. I'd be surprised if he's our O-line coach next year, though.

I'm not sticking up for James Campen at all...i think his ass should be sent out of Green Bay on the next train. But isn't it Mike Mc Carthy's zone blocking system to begin with? If he is such a expert in this lame ass system why isn't he spending most of his day with the oline coach trying to convey a sence of what this piece-o-crap zone blocking system is to his players. It works like shit and is broke..scrap the idea and move on. Mike McCarthy needs to be man enough to admit the mistake and correct it. They should save two seats on that train and buy Mike McCarthy the second ticket out of town.

Is the ZBS responsible for the 20 sacks we've given up this year? Help me out. Hell, this year's roster shows an intent to move away from the ZBS and get more size and athleticism on the field. I'll grant that the run game isn't stellar this year (not that anyone runs on the Vikes anyway) but I only see it at BEST tangentially related to the problem at hand: the PASS BLOCKING. We don't "zone" pass block. The zone blocking system refers to the RUN BLOCKING.

FIRE MIKE MCCARTHY! BURN THE HOUSE DOWN! WE'RE 2-2!!!

I'm not trying to be snarky tonight, LOL. I totally understand the emotional drain that goes with seeing your favorite team make the same mistakes week in and week out. I just think a lot of the criticisms are misdirected.

We should probably always assume one thing (and we don't, and I'm guilty of it as well): the guys employed to handle the decisions/issues/etc. in question put a LOT MORE time and effort into them than we do. It is all too easy to play armchair GM. Hell, one might argue that's what the internet was invented for (isn't Al Gore a big football fan?).

I just get frustrated when our main deficiency is pass-blocking (at least I'll say that our "game-changing deficiency" is pass blocking) and people bring up the zone blocking system. I don't see how they're all that related -- particularly when the Packers have taken steps to get some of the bigger guys involved (Barbre, Sitton, no more Wells at center <-- when Clifton is healthy).

You need quicker or more athletic lineman to play the zone scheme and those guys tend to move side to side better than taking on a blocker one on one. You tend to sacrifice strength and in pass blocking, you really need the strength to win the one and one battles. The Packers don't' have that especially with guards playing tackle.

Mike Lombardi brought up a good point at NFP. When you're running the zone scheme and your a running team, all is well, but if you can make that team throw, then it puts more stress on the offensive line because they have to win those one and one matchups.

Green Bay is a pass first team.

That's fine, but Mike McCarthy emphasized that his linemen have gotten bigger each year they've been here.

Colledge I'll accept as being too light for tackle, but unfortunately that's the way it is because we no other player behind Cliffy.

As for Barbre, Giacomini, Cliffy, etc. you are looking at players in the 315-320 range, at least. These are not the 295 lb. O-Linemen used in Denver in the Alex Gibbs era. Heck even Spitz is now in the 310 range.

I'm not sure what measurement Lombardi was going on, but the O-linemen in Denver, and to some extent Atlanta during Mora Jr's tenure were light, especially the tackles.

Besides Colledge, our Tackles are easily 20 pounds (at least) over the ZB Tackles of those teams.

Does anyone have any stats on how teams running game is when the team is in a ZBS comparing to a team not running the ZBS.

I'm really curious on the results.
