From what I saw I think T.J. Lang deserves a chance to play this sunday. I know it was only 17 snaps but we are playing another soft team in the browns. Lets see what the kid can do.

Again.. I have faith in Lang.. but we have zero fallback if Clifton can't suit up.

And personally, I think Clifton needs a couple of weeks to get right.. We have a dead roster spot in Breno.. fill it with someone that can help us now or at least has a chance to be active on Sundays.

I see your point and have not taken a good look at the depth chart and what that will mean if we sign someone. You always have to consider that means someone else has to get cut. I am sure there is someone we can lose (bush) just throwing out there food for thought.

You would think that our offensive line would be one of Ted Thompson's biggest concern at the moment (we don't know if it is or not) because our franchise quarterback's life is on the line every single snap, even against bad teams like the Lions.

I am with you guys that this problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible because as Pack93z said, "my tolerance for sitting on his hands is growing thin."

Do something Ted, please.

Quick snap judgment would be Breno.. hasn't suited up active yet, even though we are getting pummeled at tackle.

Maybe he is making huge strides and is a player for the future, but last time I checked, that is what the developmental idea of the practice squad is. I highly doubt there is a large threat of him getting plucked off the PS.

I think the active roster is more for having the players there who are going to participate in the game. Not so much for activating someone as a back up because you are predicting somebody to get injured. Replace Breno with another T you are still going to have a T that isn't active.

If you are going to shelf Cliffy for a couple weeks.. he is one inactive. Smith is another possibility..

My point, the glaring hole on this team is the Oline.. most specifically the edges.. you tinker with combinations until you have is solidified. Leave that interior jell..

In 15 minutes, at the trade deadline, I believe Ted will once again have done nothing.
I hope I'm wrong!

Nobody is dealing a LT at the trade deadline. You would think the NFL was baseball with what some are hoping for. It's like what I said about Joe Thomas, you want him, give up the most ridiculous amount you can give up to get him. Same goes for all kinds of players. For example, Tennessee could've traded Michael Roos, but why? Don't you think they'll want him for next year? They can turn it around for next season and he could play a key.

Same goes for all kinds of players. I heard Anthony Collins for Aaron Kampman. I wouldn't make that deal and would Cincy? Collins is better than Andre Smith at RT. My point is you're late to the party in criticizing Thompson for not making a move. The move should've been made a long time ago.

As far as a tackles on the street goes. Levi Jones would've been my choice of a pickup, but now Washington got him. That's disappointing, but not the problem . The problem is that in March, nothing happens.

I think it's preposterous that the NFL trade deadline happens so early in the season. I like the way it works in the MLB, in which teams that have no chance down the stretch can dump expensive talent, while teams that are on the cusp of a deep run can acquire talent to solidify their chances. It seems as though the NFL thinks it wouldn't be fair if coaching staffs don't have enough film on new players to study later in the season, and I don't understand it.

With all due respect, I'm not some kid playing @ Madden. Nor was I suggesting they trade someone like Kampman for a marginal talent. I know March was the best time to address the issue, but IMO picking up someone like Jones or Runyan or sending some picks and/or a player like Bush for at least serviceable depth at the position isn't unrealistic and should have been done.

It looks like Ted's standing pat, though, and I think that deserves criticism, whether late or not (though for the record I've been skeptical of his approach on the line for some time).

In any case, I don't disagree with you - the moves should have been made in March. I just also think that he should have tried something now, late or no.

Exactly. No one is going to sign Breno. We can stash him on PS, (like we could have done with one of our FBs)
