There is some legalize to read in the procedures:

When the teams are tied within the division, divisional tiebreakers take over. That comes before you look at the Conference Tiebreakers.

Head to head is a tiebreaker before common games and conference record. Therefore the Giants are ahead of the Eagles. Even though the Eagles have a better conference record.

(Read your 1a. of three or more teams tied)

The Giants ahead of the Eagles, but are behind the Falcons and Packers.

The Eagles cannot be in the playoffs ahead of the Giants.

That is why I said above if it were not for that head to head win, the Packers would be in 7th position.

I read it as for each position they go with the division tie breaker. Which means, the 5th spot goes to the Eagles and the 6th spot goes to the Falcons. Just because the Giants didn't get the 5th seed, that doesn't automatically mean they can't have the 6th seed. I think?
Now, as I said, I read the rules, doesn't mean I understand them fully. lol

From what I've read and seen, I think the Packers are in 7th, although NFL.com says they are 7th too and I'm not sure if that can be trusted.

Well next weeks game will have a side show attraction to it. Rodgers vs Smith pt.1. I am so happy today i got to rub it in to all the Cowgirl fans here at work. It may only be for a week but i don't care lol.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Sometimes I just hate having to read for other people.

Zero posted this copy:

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

1.(a) Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step
1.(b) The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

Let's look at it step by step until people get it.

The Giants, Eagles, Packers and Falcons are tied at 5-4.

1.(a) Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step.

So with two teams in the same division part of the tie, the higher ranked one gets consideration. So you go to the tiebreakers for 2 teams of those 2 divisional rivals.

The first tiebreaker between two teams is Head to head win (that seems fair).
Giants eliminate the Eagles with their head to head win.

Now a 3 way tie between the Falcons, Packers and Giants.

They have not played each other so the next tiebreaker is Conference record.

Falcons 4-3
Packers 4-3
Giants 3-3

Falcons and Packers still tied for top wild card spot. So the next tiebreaker between them is common games with a minimum of 4. But there are not yet 4 common games. Without 4 we move on to the next tiebreaker.

Strength of Victory.

Here the Falcons have beaten teams whose combined record is .422.
The Packers have beaten teams whose combined record is .292.

Falcons win the tiebreaker and would be the top Wild Card team.

Now for the second Wild Card spot the process is repeated with the 3 remaining teams. Giants, Eagles, Packers.

2 from the same division so only the higher ranked one is considered.

Giants have a head to head victory over the Eagles. They repesent for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

Giants and Packers
1st is head to head have not played head to head
2nd common games and they do not have 4 common opponents
3rd Conference Record.

The Packers Conference REcord is 4-3 and the Giants is 3-3.
Thus the Packers would be awarded the 2nd Wild Card spot.

The tiebreakers clearly state that the highest team within the division gets considered for the spot.

As I said above without that Giants victory over the Eagles the Packers would be behind the Eagles in Conference Record and Strength of Victory. However, the Eagles are not even in the running.....this week.

It can change next week.

In fact the Falcons play at the Giants this week. At this point in the season it looks like you want the Giants to win. That game is a big one for these standings.

Also, you really do want to cheer for the Bears to beat the Eagles on SNF next week.

Well, what it comes down to now is winning as many games as possible. One game at a time. I don't want to jinx us.

Thanks CACheese for the info though. It's good to know we're back in the hunt.

Weird things often happen in the post-season. Our D yesterday showed that they can win us games.

Thats how i see it. It doesn't matter at this point in the season where exactly you are. ONLY that you still ARE in contention.
There's way too much football left to get caught up in exactly where we are at now. 7 weeks from now......that's what matters.

If the Packers win Sunday.....

The Falcons Giants game is huge.
A Giants win moves the Packers ahead of the Falcons yet the Giants will be hind in Conference record.
A Falcons win will increase their Strength of Victory margin over the Packers.

The Sunday Night game the Bears are at home against the Eagles. If the Bears win the PAckers are in front of the Eagles by a game and in front of the Bears by 2 games.
If the Eagles win and the Giants win things are as they are now. If the Eagles win and the Giants lose, the Packers are out of playoff position.

Playing the Wild Card the Packers need all the help they can get.

Packers sneak in the play-offs on a wildcard.

Wild card round. The Packers meat the Cowboys again. Defense dominates and the offense actually gets moving. This time we finish the job. 24 - 0.

Divisional round. We meet the Vikings again. AP gets shut down again and Favre throws 2 picks as the defense keeps swarming to the ball and taking advantage of rookie RT Loadholt. Allen gets no sacks. 31 - 14.

Conference round. Going to the superdome, we turn up the heath even more. Brees has his first horrible game of the year. We kick some ass. 34 - 28.

Super Bowl. We play the Colts. Peyton is one fire, but is forced into making some mistakes by the defense. Our offense moves the ball quite easily, with their only pass rushing thread beng Dwigth Freeney. 28 - 21.

Far fetched. Random thoughts. Would be very enjoyable, though.
