For me it is overall priorities.. IMO.. we have a couple backers that could slide outside if needed.. while we have some potential at Corner in Lee and Underwood, and one very solid young guy at corner in Williams.. we lack overall long term depth.

I also think Brad Jones and Cyril Obiozor is going to be something special as well... go back an look at film of Jones at Colorado that is posted in his draft thread.. kid has talent. Obi I think if going to develop nicely with Greene taking him under his wing.. just watch that kid develop.

So, from these comments, I get that most of you find safety and corner more of a need than OLB?

I really think that this defense will never be a Pittsburgh-like one with the OLBs we have. Matthews is great, but he's a jack off all trades type. Kampman and Thompson are just not getting there. We need someone who will get in the opponents backfield time after time. Someone who, I think, you can pick up in the second round, because he's a tweener for the 4-3.

Matthews is great, BUT? There's no BUT. The guy has started 6 games, and has won the NFL Rookie Of The Week twice. He's hardly a jack of all trades (which infers "master of none").

That's my problem with the 3-4 OLB. If you ask me, both OLB spots are different positions. Matthews has been great, but he's not a DE. At least, not if you ask me. I want that guy who can pretty much get pressure every time the QB holds on to the ball too long. Matthews can't do that.

Don't get me wrong, great motor and he'll keep on trying, but usually, if his speed rush fails, he won't get there fast.

I have trust in Obiozor and Jones, as well. I just don't know if they'll ever be elite rushers. There's a reason for Obiozor still being on the PS. And Jones couldn't beat out Kapman, who really wasn't doing too well. Next to that, our OLB blitzes wheren't hitting home too often in the Dallas game. It's where the ILB crosses and DB blitzes that got there. And Jenkins, of course.

I know, they're young, they could still develop into solid starters, but so could Trevor Frod, Pat Lee and Brandon Underwood. Especially Underwood, if he bulks up a little.

That's my main reasoning for wanting a DE. That, and that you'll have a pretty decent hit chance on them in the 2nd round, compared with the 1st round.

Although a top guard wouldn't make me too mad either, in the 2nd round.

Yeah, Mathews will be there a LONG time without a doubt. If we have a need it's on the left side where you want that high pressure guy and in a way will will know if Jones can be that or not before the year is out. I'm not looking for Woodley production at this point but just seeing something that shows he can be the player we need there and steady getting better like Mathews.

Mathews is just getting started. Geesh. The sky is the limit for that guy.

My not looking into the issue at all but probably still do as good as Ted mid season picks next year's draft authorization:

1st Round:
Russel Okung
Trent Williams
Charles Brown
Bryan Bulaga

19th, not 20th, I believe

2nd Round:
Anthony Davis
Selvish Capers
Bruce Campbell

52nd

3rd Round:
Ciron Black
Jason Fox
Gabe Carimi

82nd

4th Round:
Jarriel King
Kyle Galloway

116th

5th Round:
Sam Young
Nate Solder
Joseph Barksdale
Anthony Costonzo

147th

6th Round:

Zane Beadles
Lee Ziemba

180th

7th Round:

Adam Vlatoski
Jason Pinkston

211th

No need to worry your pretty little heads over what positions these guys play.

They're all friggin' O-linemen. If that don't fix it..well, there's always next year...He can do it again. :thumbleft:

Just take the fattest one from each group if more than one available, and of course if anyone slides round to round, take the fat guy that did.

You can go BPA other than QB, WR, TE if none on my list available that round. ONLY if not available, though.

You got Carimi in the 3rd round? If he's there in the 3rd, we'll have to pick him. That'd make one hell of a future duo at the tackle spot, if we'd be able to get Charles (not Donald) Brown, as well.

Brown - Lang - Spitz - Sitton - Carimi

In all seriousness, though, the kid is a freak of nature. 6'7 - 6'8, 310 - 325, 4:88 - 5:20 40 and is the cornerstone of a pretty damn good O-line.

I'm afraid that the combine might shoot him up on the mock drafts. And in the actual draft.

If we actually have a coach who can develop O-linemen, the sky is the limit for this kid.

My opinion is Josh Oglesby, whom just went down with an injury is going to be an even better NFL tackle.. albeit I think he will be limited to the right side only.

My 2010 version of Duke Robinson.

Mike Iupati

..and just like last year with Duke, I am GOOD from the 2nd round back taking him.

He will probably be around as late as the 4th or 5th... AGAIN like Duke, only because of GM stubborness/stupidity, or hopefully he has a character flaw or something :thumbleft:

Jesus I'm friggin' good at guessing. Not so good as far as when they will be around pick-wise, but I submit that was some pretty good pickin' from the woodwork that is college football back in Nov.

Wow. This article makes very little sense right now. It's amazing how the board switches around in just a few weeks.

Zero2Cool (21h) : Jan 4th gonna be rough with that start time lol
Zero2Cool (21h) : Packers schedule listed. Boom.

Zero2Cool (14-May) : WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Bills
Zero2Cool (14-May) : Jets and Aaron Rodgers open up on Monday Night Football,

Zero2Cool (13-May) : I know we moved on. That tidbit just makes me a touch happier.
Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.

Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
