NY Times- Supreme Court Decision

MSNBC went off last night, even more so than the previous night when the Republicans took the Mass. Senate seat.

Kindly note I am referencing a NY Times article. This will probably be the only time I will ever do this. Also note that Keith O.---Who I hate---passionately---is right....he got one right in his lifetime, congrats...this is very bad for America...very bad.

Good for the NFL--- Good for the Pack.

Why?

TV revenue.

Strict constitutionalism can sometimes suck, imo

Do you really think a lot of corporations are going to throw lots of money at candidates? Obviously some will, but some will realize that by stating a specific political alignment for your company, you will befriend about half the population/your employees and make the other half absolutely hate you. I think endorsing a particular candidate is a terrible business decision, however it's a bad decision I think they should be allowed to make.

I think corporations are going to absolutely pour money into political campaigns. I hope I am wrong, but know I am not. Profoundly scary.

A corporation is a legal (though not natural) person under the law. As a person, it has rights, including civil rights. The Supreme Court has just declared that the civil rights of corporations include the freedom of speech.

I wonder if that means they have the right to bear arms and the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure? I see a bubble looming in the self-help incorporation industry. 😃

See, I can't see that being a trend, or at least one that sticks. Imagine if Super 8 endorsed Obama last election (just as an example of a ~50-50 split in terms of popular opinion)... Do you think that would be good or bad for business? Probably good in the short term, bad in the long term. What about if they were to endorse the losing candidate? I don't think there's much to be gained in a company running/funding ads about anything that's as polarized as politics, unless they're running ads about something that's overwhelmingly popular (in which case, why do there need to be ads?).

People with big money will back "their" guys. Even if they have to channel the money through back alleys.
Anyone that thinks the "media" doesn't pay off thier guys is blind on purpose.
They do it with money, and with "ringing endorsements".
The Milwaukee "Urinal" newspaper (and i use the word "news", even though it's not) ALWAYS gives it's backing to liberal democrats, and blasts anyone thats conservative.
The ONLY way a republican can get on the front page is if they screw up. Anything good they do will be buried in the back or not reported at all.
That's just the way it is.

Newspapers are in the toilet, and a lot of them are a good example of what I'm talking about. When you align yourself with one extreme, you're alienating the other end of the spectrum. Apply this to a company like Canon or Microsoft or Google that doesn't deal with politics, and you're causing more problems than it's worth. The fact of the matter is, if people are funneling significant money in through the backdoor, someone's going to notice. If it's money going to Republicans, MSNBC/CNN/ABC/CBS are going to bitch about it. If it's money going to Democrats, Fox News and talk radio are going to bitch about it. You just can't get away with shady crap like this anymore, sorry.
