Did anyone else notice that the refs were TERRIBLE during this game? It seems to me like the NFL is out against Green Bay, the calls have been terrible all year for the Packers...

It seemed to me like whenever something happened that was questionable, the refs would wait on the crowd's reaction to throw the flag. Whenever the crowd went crazy, one of the refs would reach for the yellow cloth.

I was so pissed off, and that's part of the reason I have a sore throat and can barely talk right now.

There was that one illegal contact downfield flag in particular that came in bizarrely late -- well after the play was over. It seems to me that the flags should be thrown the moment the official see the infraction, not after the outcome of the play is apparent.

Officiating gaffes and inequities aren't what cost the Packers this game, but they're certainly annoying to watch.

posted in another thread. Other coaches are in the refs ear when a non-call happens and we start getting called later. McCarthy does't do that and we never start getting them.

Just a thought.

It's called respect. You have to respect the referees, as a coach, IMO. If you continue to argue with them, (to me) it seems like they would NOT throw a flag simply because you were arguing with them earlier.

It isn't arguing. Just a hey, they were all over so and so or come on you can't let them do that. Later on, that will impact the officials when the same player is on another close play.

I forget what coach, but he said he'd talk to the referee's before (it was Jimmy Johnson with the Cowboys) the game to make them aware of what to look for and said not to underestimate the importance of those chit chats.

they do it all the time in basketball (chit chats with refs). in this game i think it pretty much amounted to "watch woodson and the holding". and yeah i think it's pretty effective.

There were some calls that went against the pack but we also got some breaks on a few calls. I know we have "fan blinders" on sometimes with some of the non-calls in our favor, but they exist. That being said, i don't think it's that refs are against the packers at all, the refs have just been flat out bad all around this year.

I think the officials as a whole have sucked this year. Not only have I seen some bad calls against the Pack, but many other games this year as well. I don't blame the loss entirely on bad officiating, but it sure doesn't help the situation.
