you're right that a draw/screen isn't a 'gimmick.' What I meant to convey is that people seem to be correlating a higher avg. with bjack improving. I still don't feel that Bjack/kuhn can line up in the I and consistently convert a 2nd and 3 (which is a problem)...rather, the team needs to resort to some sort of long-developing play to spread out the box.

It is what it is, Bjack is not an every down back, and kudos to him and McCarthy for doing what they can to make him productive. I just don't think a 4.46 avg is a sign that he's suddenly the team's solution at RB.

We used Jackson correctly this week. He got 13 carries and also 3 receptions. If I remember correctly, they were screens.

Jackson showed how good he is with screens. 58 yards rushing, 46 yards receiving. Good game. :thumbright:

Jackson is progressing every week. I figured it would take him a few weeks but I have to admit, I was worried early on. I liked what I saw last night. On plays where there was nothing, he seemed to bull for 3 yards pretty consistently. He showed another gear on one screen pass too.

I said this 2 weeks ago, they need to stay with the run game...

Jackson THEN was in 7th per carry avg

Just not staying with the run

Jackson doesn't look any different than the first couple weeks, IMO.. still dancing and looking for yards.

What has changed is how Mike McCarthy is using him and the play calling differences.. running out of non traditional running sets.. taking advantage of the defenses inkling of pass first.. this is the balance I have been barking about. It allows the runs to be more effective and forcing the defense to respect the run out of passing sets.. helping the protection.

We aren't a smash mouth type of running team at this point with an undersized center and a left guard the lacks bulk to move people around.. but we are a team that should be able to screen, draw or run pulling plays to run out of those spread sets.

We had mistakes last night.. but Mike McCarthy IMO coached one of his better games last night.

McCarthy almost called a perfect game. You can go a great deal about their 4th quarter offense, but they barely had two possessions.

Converting 3rd down is the key to our success.

He could still use a couple more touches, especially with the production he has been spitting out the last few weeks. Jackson is not a zone stretch runner. keep him between the tackles or on open sweeps. They have switched to more inside zone plays which by nature have a more designated hole which he is hitting hard.

Moving in the right direction in his use.

Love how it's just about the same, but since we lost to the Dolphins, everyone and their Grandma is calling for MM's head. Now we have pretty much the same ratio of passes and runs and we win a game and everyone's patting Mike McCarthy on the back.

Zombie.. find my comments from last week.. they mirror this weeks.. I like the play calling trend of the past couple of weeks.
