I'm not so sure but it didn't even look like Cutler was trying to help Hanie or Collins when he got hurt. You'd figure he would at least try to help his team in SOME way.

I don't question his toughness. I question his commitment to his team.

Apparently he played at Colorado State (20 mins north of me) and was on the radio.
The announcers were bashing Jay Cutler.
Caleb Haine said that Jay Cutler helped him quite a bit. He's a local guy around here.

Just because the camera's didn't show, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Jay being the bad guy is a story, Jay helping out the rookie is not what the "popular" opinion thrives for.

Why wasn't he wearing a headset then?

I'm just saying, he didn't seem plugged into the game. You know a 3rd string QB needs all the help he can get. Also, was Hanie talking about the NFC Championship game or Cutler helping him throughout the season?

Why are we arguing about this (I suppose because there's NOTHING else to talk about! lol). All we have is circumstantial evidence that Cutler douched it the rest of the game. I don't think it can be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, but would you be more surprised if he did douche it or if he didn't? This is Cutler we're talking about here.

At least Woodson had a broken bone, correct? I don't think there's much to "tough out" when that's the case.

Plugged in? When does Jay Cutler ever seem plugged into the game?

Headset? Maybe he was near the play caller so didn't need the headset or took it off when the defense was on the field?

I didn't mention the Hanie interview out of context, it makes no sense for me to bring it up if he was talking about during the season. I'm not a journalist, I have no agenda here.

I'm just saying we shouldn't pretend to know the facts and make harsh judgments on assumptions.

I'm not a Cutler fan. I think he makes more bonehead plays than Favre did in his worst years. I wouldn't put him in the Ryan Leaf category, but some weird combination of Jim Del Gaizo and Mike Tomszak.

But I have to say I'm with him on all this "sideline demeanor" b.s. If his ppers, teammates and coaches aren't bothered, I see no reason for anyone else to be.

And maybe this is just personal to me, since I recently found out about my own, but the first thing *I* think of when I see those sideline shots of the Cutler supposedly "not plugged in" is "his blood sugar's out of whack again."

It's been pointed out repeatedly how he sometimes needs to take extra insulin shots during a game, and that suggests to me that not only does he have diabetes, but that it's not going to be completely under control when he's stressed -- and surely trying to win against a division rival and then being unable to play is a stressful thing.

Because, all the macho bullshit aside, there's more to dealing with effed up blood sugar than "sucking it up" and "being a rah rah supportive leader." When it's out of whack, you're going to be out of whack. That's just how it works.

I have no idea what Cutler's diabetes was or was not doing that day. I wasn't there and I'm not a doctor. But, it seems to me, the diabetes explanation is *at least* as plausible as any of the negative interpretations out there.

Criticize his football skills all you want -- or, since you're Packer fans, chuckle about how the Bears continue to operate without a quality quarterback. 🙂 But, please, can we lay off this National Enquirer/ESPN level judgment of his sideline posture.

Bah.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As Zero mentioned earlier, that's just another assumption that has not been proved either way. We could all sit around and think of reasons for how Cutler acts. The only ones that know for sure are his team mates and coaching staff. The rest is just conjecture. I don't really see the problem with having opinions and discussing them on the issue. There's not much news presently, it's mildly interesting since it's a division opponent, and people read it. Things like this sell in the media, whether it's fair or not. It's not like Cutler's the only NFL player that receives an over reaction to his sideline demeanor.

By the way Wade, I know you were just expressing your opinion, but others are doing the exact same thing, even if it's of a different nature.

Which is what I was alluding to.
Jay Cutler being shown helping out the rookie doesn't get long term attention.
Jay Cutler being shown walking around with no limp around no teammates when the offense is on the field, now that gives writers something to ink about.

I guess I can see Lovie's point on the beef against FOX in that regard.

I'd like to see some pictures popup with Jay being a smartass grabbing a stick an drawing plays in the dirt for Caleb while being over dramatic about it.

Yeah, like I said, it's unfair. But surely as players and organizations, they understand this and aren't surprised when people keep asking about it. It seems like an exercise in futility to try to get the media to not jump on stuff like this. One just has to understand the nature of the beast and if they are annoyed enough by it, do something to prevent it other than bitching about it because that's not going to work.

beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
