My God. After reading those last few posts, I have to give more respect to Mike Holmgren. Him sticking with BF , imagine if he didn't and decided that Mark Brunell needed a chance to prove himself.

is Aaron Rodgers better, worse, or about the same as BF was at those times

That's a good question. But it's also hard to answer -- for one, I don't have a clear enough recollection from then to compare the two, and for another they're such different kinds of QBs.

Judging by my own heartburn level, I would say that -- so far -- Rodgers is better at this point than Brett was way back then. He hasn't tied my stomach in knots like Brett used to do on a regular basis. BUT, Brett didn't get to sit on the bench and learn the game for 3 seasons like Aaron has, just to be fair.

I'd say Rodgers is more polished and certanly more mature. But by the same measure Favre was more electric. You just knew he had the potential to be something special. I don't get that as much from Rodgers. I think he's solid and could have a good career, but with Favre you got the feeling right away that he could be great. Of course, you also thought at times he might flame out horribly, but either way it was going to be exciting to watch.

GREAT point Sam! And true!

I do remember one video ahowing Holmgren, him saying "Put the other QB in!" Then he paused for a second, saying "Wait, wait". Imagine if he would have pulled Favre? Who KNOWS if he would have seen the field again?
BF could make you scream with delight.....or disgust!
But NEVER a dull moment!

So, ah, what's the name of your source? Because that's some powerful stuff you've been smoking/drinking/snorting/injecting

I had this idea of not playing to win this year from TT's moves specially for his non-moves.

When I read from Mike McCarthy that we are using a reduced playbook this year it made sense because we can't go very far with the run-run-pass approach and the 4 or 5 magnificent plays we have :)

where did he say that with AR?
unless this is new stuff

.he said it was all media hype when asked about changing the play book to suit Aaron Rodgers during the suumer

Mike McCarthy said "We haven't really operated on a very high volume all year, so that's something coming out of the offseason" in his press conference on MOnday. The actual quote is at the bottom of the transcript

"If Brett walked in here today, he wouldn't think anything was different," McCarthy says, while allowing he may call certain routes more or less with Rodgers.

"If we have to [pass an inordinate amount], I have all the confidence in the world to go down that road with Aaron," McCarthy says. "He has complete control of the system. I'm not holding back anything."
