I didn't watch any coverage so I didn't experience any of the gushing over Teds picks but it leads me to think one of two things. Either these guys are really big Ted Thompson fans and he can do no wrong OR Ted really knows what he is doing and is getting some great players. I hope it is the latter.

It is interesting that you didn't feel other GMs getting the same love however. My feelings on these post draft reports are that it seems for the most part they are too generous. After reading some of the breakdowns you wonder why this guy wasn't a first rounder they make him sound so good. Sometimes you will read a bad one that essentially says "what the hell was he thinking" but not nearly as often as the more positive ones.

Add to it, as my wife pointed out, this was unique to Ted and the Packers. Thirdly, the BS grades that come out immediately are really just that, but nearly every one has us rated very high. Again, FWIW, but it is interesting.

After looking up, reading up on all these day 2 guys I knew nothing about, I came away pretty impressed with the selections, and I think it points to GB sticking to its board for the most part.

Ted did offer they did go for need picks (wish I could remember where I read it), skewed somewhat towards positions of need... and I can't argue that either, as he is addressing shoring up those areas of his team. I'm sure he weighed the value of others where they might be lesser needs vs. the true need picks before making his selections. Can't argue if he wanted to handle it that way, as we do want to win now.

I just trust in the fact that I know this team watches a hell of a lot of film on the players they choose. This isn't just blindfolded picking. This is the result of countless hours of film review.
Circular Arguments: They are a heck of an annoyance

Just to clarify, I believe Ted was commenting more that if they had a couple of players rated the same, they went with the one we needed more.

Yeah, Ted held firm with his picks and made what he felt was the most of those selections, without just trading down for more. Followed his board and made those picks. I can't help but think they were probably wanting Nix, then Martin, but they fell of the board at the last minute and they took Rodgers. Just a guess on my part, but that's following your board with discipline.

What I found interesting through every pick Ted made, the talking heads just gushed about the selection. Effusive in their praise all the way through the review segment.

Very few picks got that kind of treatment. Ted got that on every single one. FWIW, of course. I'm talking about McShay, Kiper, Polian, Dilfer... Rave reviews for every Ted pick.

Couldn't tell if it was more about the player or Ted overall, but they all explained the high points of the selections. They knew what we were getting.

I know I was staggered day 2, because I dint know a damn thing about any of them.

Duh. Harbaugh and Baalke should agree on the picks. Other times John Schneider or Pete Carroll had someone's lips locked on their back pockets.

most likely the analysts are thinking if they don't play nice no one will talk to them the rest of the year.
