Aaron Rodgers looks pretty good on TV to me, so that means I'm wrong because I'm not watching live? Wow, I guess he sucks because my TV tells me he's good. TV is always in opposition with reality?

Eddie Lacy looks good to me, but he must be easy to tackle because he looks tough to tackle on TV.

Sam Shields looks fast on TV, but must be slow because I can't get a sense from TV.

BTW, what do scouts and GM's use a lot of to make player evaluations? T-A-P-E...what do they watch it on? A television. Our org has been doing it wrong. We shouldn't be watching tape because it's been misleading us not giving us the better players.

So, people who played football in HS, like me, understand NFL football? I played all the sports growing up... so you should bow to me? I don't understand where in the world you're coming from? Who has played the game that got frustrated? Sounds like they wanted to be validated because they played and nothing more.

What is a stupid debate? You arguing to keep fringe roster players over guys who have the talent to be 1st round draft picks?

If none of us can know who is good or who is bad, or what makes good football or bad football you may as well shut down Packer fan sites. J

They sure as heck don't use tapes of the broadcast

You're already picking your favorites, which means if one of them don't make the team, hey you'll be happy because that will give you another reason to complain.

Just for the record, since I guess I have to say it again, I hope Lyerla becomes the "steal of the century" but he isn't anything special right now, he is just another UDFA trying to make an impression on the coaches.

I don't remember ever saying anything about Bush and Shields, but hey you keep posting it and the gullible ones will believe I said it.

You just proved my point, you think you know who is playing poorly and who is not.
Get a clue, you can't evaluate a player by what you see on tv.

That's why I leave it up to Ted and Co. You got a problem with the talent, then take it up with them.

There are some on this forum who have actually played the game and know what I am talking about.

They are the ones who used to post here all the time, but have realized it is futile to try and actually talk Packer football without getting into these stupid debates.

Right, they don't watch TV broadcasts but they do watch tape on a television. buck taught me that watching TV of someone was a poor way to gauge if they were good, or not. Rodgers looks great on TV. If I extrapolate the example a little, I wouldn't be able to tell what teams in the NFL were good by watching TV.

Can't wait for the day Lyerla makes the team so buck can finally embrace him. [grin1]

You can't see why they are good on a broadcast.

For example, Cobbs first TD reception.

Cobb blew the play and ran the wrong route.

Looks good to you. But it was a big mistake.

Since you don't know what the assignments are, what the correct read is, or what the rest of the players are doing, you can't tell from the broadcast if it is a good play or a lucky one.

The comment about Rodgers looks good on a TV Broadcast is not relevant. Because you can't see the details that actually make him that good. You see the results and assume it was his genius. But you couldn't tell us what the D allignment was, what his adjustment was, what his read was or even if he threw the ball to the right guy.

The coaches looking at the all 22 tape can see that.

Just because you can see Rodgers looks good on TV, doesn't mean you know why.

I hope he does also.

But I wouldn't make that assumption.

I just noticed they signed him for three years. For a UDFA who made the roster via tryout, isn't that a little unusual?

"The Green Bay Packers are giving Colt Lyerla an opportunity and that’s about it.

The three-year minimum contract Lyerla signed with the Packers did not include a signing bonus, according to an NFL source with access to the NFLPA salary information."

Yes it is unusual, so they must know the kind of talent he has. Hopefully they've assigned a dumbass protector to save him from himself.

Kuhn and Taylor are "proven veterans?" LOL

They've proven they're scrubs, that's about it imo. Kuhn is on the wrong side of 30. He needs to prove himself every year.
