When Peyton Manning left Indianapolis in 2012, he did so with a public embrace from Colts owner Jim Irsay, who hosted a ceremony at the team facility to say goodbye to the team's longtime quarterback. It was a nice moment for both Manning and the Colts, and Brett Favre thinks he deserves some of the...

Wow, stfu up Bert.

The only thing he did was pave the way for players to take blackmail money to throw playoff games.

What paved the road for Peyton's graceful exit was that Peyton (to the dislike of some in the media at times) has always tried to be 100% professional all of the time, especially in front of the media, way before the Favre/Packers split... heck Peyton may have been doing that before the Favre/Packers trade together.

I think it's possible that the Favre/Packers drama might of paved a little into the reason why the Colts decided to just outright cut Peyton instead of try to trade/keep him, but other factors including the Colts owner stupid pride and the fact that teams don't like he's the starter drama which happens anytime you have a new 1st round pick who's backing up and the fact they got the #1 overall pick and had Andrew Luck in their sights... as football "expects" have said, Luck was one of the most pro-ready QBs since either Elway or maybe ever. But the Colts owner, like Favre, wasn't too graceful in moving on and both took a number of pot shots at the other side. So really it's Manning acting professional and the Colt owners getting told to STFU after getting caught with his lots of drugs.

To trade Manning Colts would have had to pay a $28M signing bonus!!!! Given that the contract he signed w/ Denver had 18M guaranteed [10M less] one must presume the Colts would not have been able to trade Manning w/ 28M G. To get the other 40M "guaranteed" from Denver, Manning had to pass a 2013 team physical. So if Denver didn't like his progress they could have cut him w/o long term effect, at a cost of a 18M for 1 year. Any team trading for Manning was on the hook for $28M plus at least the league min salary and give up a late pick; if he's cut after one year.

Conversely, GB saved alot of dead money [at least 6M] by trading Favre as opposed to cutting him.

Favre, in demanding his release, expected GB to not sign 1-2 other future players [due to dead money wasted by cutting him]. This is a crazy myopic sociopathy. And thank you Ted Thompson for not giving into his childish and terroristic demands!

Favre's just a nut to think he paved the way for Manning...A TOTAL NUT! LOL
