This isn't about any 2nd year guys or otherwise. Lacy would be top of my list if we were talking about just players but who got you fired up or cold showered?

Q Rollins, Ryan, Gunter, Hundley, Pinkard and 88 cent got me fired up this evening.

Can't say anyone disappointed me tonight... gotta say watching on the small split in chat I didn't really notice the individual 2nd team OL other than Barclay who was as bad as Bakhtiari.

EDIT: There was one who did really concern me and I'm thankful he doesn't play. Zook ain't got the look.

Zook does seem a bit frazzled don't you think? His body language doesn't inspire confidence to me.

I'd say more toward the fired up end of things. We've learned to have high expectations as Packer fans, so maybe this game didn't seem all that special, but we did beat one of the best other teams in the league at their place - yeah, meaningless in preseason, but we dominated them, especially when it was first team against first team.

Trying to find some bits of negativity: I didn't notice Damarious Randall - maybe because our first team D got off the field so quick. Did he do anything good or bad? Hayward as a starting Corner playing outside worries me - but not much. As expected, Raji and the rest of the starting D Line didn't do much, but Barrington and the rest of the LBs made up for it. Somebody, Mulumba I think, blew it big time on the long run, and Clinton-Dix didn't do what a Safety is supposed to do to cover the mistake. Palmer didn't look very good. Our O Line IMO was substandard especially in the red zone. They allowed a significant pass rush from very few Pats, which let the Pats load up the secondary with a shitload of people - and at the same time, we couldn't run on them in the red zone. That's about it for the negative - and I'm fairly sure the O Line and offense problems in general will be cleared up.

On the good side, wow! All the QBs - Tolzien did great; Hundley was poised and more than decent, etc.; Pretty much all the RBs - Starks (who I have been negative about) was great, all three young guys looked more than adequate - of course, the Patriots supposedly have a run D weakness, but even so ..... ; What a corps of WRs! Montgomery is the real deal, Janis is gonna be all right, White - maybe but I doubt it, etc.; Quarless looks like he wants to keep his job, Perillo maybe; In the D Line, Pennell kinda stood out - I didn't notice anybody else except Datone Jones playing with the scrubs looked decent. In fairness, it seemed like the scheme was for the D Line to tie up the O Linemen and have the LBs do the harm, and that worked pretty well. Mulumba, other than the glaring blunder on the Pats TD, did OK; Ryan (who I also have been pessimistic about) seemed to do good (was it him who almost blocked the Patriots first punt? - some white guy I couldn't identify); Hubbard and Elliot - two I have been expecting good things of - did moderately good; A lot of successful man coverage in the secondary; Maybe the Patriots' WRs aren't that great, but our guys looked damn good; Gunter may have a rep as slow, but he stayed with Boyce, the 4.3 guy, pretty well, and Rollins dominated him. Banjo looked good to me, as well as some of the young DBs who probably won't make the team.

Overall, a good performance, including a great coaching challenge at a critical time.

I think it went just like a first pre-season game would be. I'm more curious on the 2nd and 3rd game. I want to see progression and see mistakes not being made like they were the week before. That is encouraging to me.

Rollins looks good but we need to see a lot more from him. Can definitely tell he was a basketball player with the way he goes after contended balls. Two near misses on picks, both were difficult but hope to see him come down with some of those moving forward. Saw a couple good tackles by him but also a miss. So basically, if he keeps improving I think he's going to be exciting.

Pinkard was looking good (and huge!) for a while but he did have a semi-ugly drop. Don't think he'll make it on the team but you never know.

Over-analysis of the 1st preseason game always happens.

Was a good showing, some of the young guys made some nice plays, most importantly, nobody was seriously injured.

Next 2 weeks will determine which 53 head to Chicago.

Great to have Packe r Football Back!

Janis finally did what he had to do. He didn't go up after the ball, get it at the high point or reach out and pluck it with his hands, which is what he needs to work on, but he did get open and catch it.

The QBs were pretty good. White seemed to hurt himself. Barcley isn't ready. I thought MOnty was solid. Gunter too. Showed he can play faster than he times. Gave himself a chance to stick. Let's see if he keeps that up.

At some point, probably in the 3rd preseason game, they'll give Gunter some reps with the 1's to see if he can handle a legit NFL WR. I wonder how much they've seen of him in practice vs. Jordy, RC18, Davante, etc. ?

He has buzz for a reason...he's doing things that stand out and he picked one last night. Along with Rollins, who should've had two picks we could have a really fun young secondary if Randall can play and Hayward shows what he did as a rook.

I'm surprised they never entertained Gunter at S where his long speed would be less of a liability. He knows what he's doing.
