One intriguing option is ex-Packers receiver James Jones, who may not make the New York Giants’ 53-man roster. Jones, the Packers’ 2007 third-round pick, spent last season with the Oakland Raiders after the Packers didn’t re-sign him after the 2013 season.

Jones caught 73 balls for 666 yards for the Raiders last season but was a surprise cut over the offseason. The Giants signed him and he has a team-high seven receptions for 94 yards after two preseason games, having caught five passes for 83 yards in the Giants’ 22-12 victory over Jacksonville on Saturday, significantly helping his odds of making New York’s roster.

In seven seasons with the Packers, Jones caught 310 passes for 4,305 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Pull the trigger, Ted!

Maybe swap Janis for Jones, straight up?

I'd rather have Greg Jennings than James Jones.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

He knows the offense and Aaron and can play in most wideout spots on the offense. I think this one is common sense if the Giants are game!

Did the NFL change it's rules and you can have 12 or 13 men on the field?

Stop it, just stop it already! James Jones? Come on, stop it!

Absolutely, I expect Adams to have a solid year and I expect Montgomery to play well for a rookie. But they're both still somewhat unknowns when it comes to live playing time. Jones would be able to stabilize the position and could easily give way if Monty starts to light it up early.

Also Remember Ryan Grant was RB 4 at one point when we traded for him.

If Abby comes back and produces, so much the better, but he's a major unknown at this time.

I'm getting old, as my daughters like to remind me! haha. The Packers have three solid WR options right now and yes one of them is unknown but I would rather Ty Montomery than James Jones. I really liked James Jones, but there's a reason the Packers didn't kick his tires when he was available.
