"I'm excited to be a Packer. Excited to play in Green Bay this year."

Perhaps the Green Bay Packers are just as excited to have a tight end with a potential skill set to help a passing game that was inconsistent throughout 2015. They hope former Ram Jared Cook will provide the potency at tight end they have not had since Jermichael Finley, and they signed him to a one-year deal.

"It's a great place to play football. That's all you need to do from August to February is focus on football," Cook told 620 WTMJ's Greg Matzek on Sports Central Wednesday.

...

Cook said he was initially working on a two-year deal with the Packers before agreeing to the one-year contract.

"I'm willing to put in the work this year," he said.

"Once I get in the system and know the coaches, work with Aaron, build up a repore with him, that one year deal can turn into something else and a very special place."

It always helps when a guy WANTS to be here, and WANTS to be a big part of the team.
I see this as possibly something special.
If the team can stay healthy, and the defense keeps improving as it did last year, this could be a huge year.

I'm happy he's here, I'm optimistic he's going to contribute a lot to the passing game. We're going to get what appears to be a very motivated player who has some athleticism. That said, I'd be pretty surprised if he was a Packer next year.

He needs to put up big #'s if he wants another high $$ multi-year contract, there's few teams in the NFL with a need at TE and an elite QB. He is where he needs to be.

Also I know people are hating the idea of him being just a rental, but remember with the Packers Comp pick strategy he could turn into a 4th/5th round pick next year.

The players Uncle Teddy wants will still be selected and life will still move on even if we don't cram and prepare for the draft. šŸ˜
