I just read that GB activated Sternberger

So the IR return rule states the player can come back after 8 weeks. Does this mean Week 9 vs the Chargers is the soonest he would be back?

I am excited about Lewis, Tonyan, Sternberger...some excellent match up issues especially in red zone.

Here's  the clarification:

Now that we’re approaching the midway point of the regular season, players on various injury lists are now able to begin to return to practice and, eventually, return to game action. Here’s the list of players coming back to practice this week while on injured reserve or physically unable to perform list, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets:

Cardinals G Max Garcia (PUP)
Packers S Ibraheim Campbell (PUP)
Packers TE Jace Sternberger (IR)
Dolphins DT Robert Nkemdiche (PUP)
Dolphins CB Cordrea Tankersley (PUP)
Eagles CB Jalen Mills (PUP)
Seahawks DT Demarcus Christmas (PUP)
Players on the PUP list are only required to miss six weeks of the regular season, so every player listed above with the exception of Sternberger could technically be activated this weekend. Sternberger has officially been designated as one of Green Bay’s IR/return players, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Because he was originally placed on IR, Sternberger — a third-round rookie — will be absent for at least two more weeks.

Hopefully he could add a bit of a late season spark and be useful by the playoffs.

I'm not very excited, just because there are certain positions that seem to do very little as rookies and TEs seem to be one of them... as they normally seem to need at least one year to develop.

Of course with Lewis and Graham possible not being back next year... it would sure be nice to know what we have in this kid and get him to help out with the WRs hurting.

Lewis and Tonyan will as long as they can stay healthy.
