I've grown used to having a shitty defense - outside of a few seasons, it's been pretty bad the last 10+ years.

Can we for once get a decent coordinator? People can blame the guys on the field all they want (they do need to play better) BUT with a pathetic passive secondary approach - it doesn't exactly make a guy want to lower the boom and get after receivers. I'm tired of watching these half assed "tackles" and letting guys get wide open over the middle of the field.

What I'm getting at is - when a DC is calling a passive game, he can't expect them to be aggressive. If Matt gives a fuck about this team and/or his job, he needs to make a change.

I don’t want a coordinator who is a one trick pony…a blitz em until we sack em guy. This approach exposes below average to poor defensive backs, which, like it or not, is what we are fielding.

I want a guy who will:
1. teach and get buy-in
2. blitz creatively and regularly…but not too much.
3. install unique and divers coverage schemes (which you can’t do without 1)
4. instill toughness
5. not play ‘off- man’ on 3rd and1

MLF blamed the issues on “lack of communication”…well if you can’t communicate to your defense 14 games into year 3, that’s a problem! It might be partially on the position coaches as well, but something has got to give.
