Hey, I have faith in him, but he's gotta get use to throwing the ball away. There were a few times that he didn't have much time, but could see the defense coming in. Throw it away man! That's all part of playing more and gathering more maturity.

Agreed with the line. Let's start running no huddle for awhile. I think Rodgers would do well with that and it takes the pressure off the line.

And it would help if the receivers would stop dropping balls! This is making me nervous already...it could be a long season one again.

I'm going to come out and say this right here and now: If Mike McCarthy doesn't come out next week with some sort of true West Coast-style scheme to keep the pressure off Rodgers, I -- yes, I! -- am going to start calling for his head. Screw the run. Get back to what worked in 2007, when we passed to set up the run. My patience with McCarthy is fraying rapidly. His bullheadedness is off-putting. Who cares if he so desperately wants to be a run-first team? The point of coaching is to win -- not to force your imprint upon the team.

Heh. I seem to remember writing a thread last year called "Screw the Run." I really meant it. We should be passing 70-80% of the time with quick timing passes that don't allow opposing Ds to exploit our weak a** OL.

We cannot run the football. That's a fact. Our OL isn't good enough to run and pray. Our runs are a joke, and would work so much better if they were surprises.
Mike McCarthy is pissing me off. I hate balance. When I hear the word balance, I reach for my gun.

Inside of 30 seconds, with no timeouts, a false start incurs a 10-second runoff. An illegal formation, however, does not. I'm surprised the Packers didn't try such a strategy in a last ditch effort to save this game.

It's probably a moot point, but it would have been interesting to see them attempt it.

Been looking through the photos of this game and there's one that's just so... right. Just a great picture, if you ask me.

Everyone keeps saying Rodgers should throw it away but there is no reason you should ever have to throw it away vs a 4 man rush with extra protection. You should have all the time in the world to throw.

Say you want him to throw it away well that takes away the 6 sacks but you also have to take away all the times he escaped the rush and got outside the pocket and made a play. We are looking at 15+ throwaways then which would be absolutely unacceptable.

Whether there's good reason or not, you at times have to do what you have to do in order to put yourself into a better position.

1st and 10 - 4 man rush, you throw the ball away if you can't find an open target so you avoid 2nd and 17.

Would you rather work with 2nd and 10 or 2nd and 17?

I would take a couple sacks mixed in with some plays made than a bunch of throw aways. Key words though "a couple sacks" not 6. If they can't fix the o-line they might as well just go with the Buffalo Bills offense where every pass is a dump off or checkdown.

I'll take the one that he took most critisism for.

He snaps the ball, the pressure gets there in no time. He's forced to scramble back as the DEs pinch him. He steps up and start running forward as far as he can, resulting in just a 3 yard sack.

There was not a single point in that play that he could throw the ball away. It was either this sack, an interception, intentional grounding or try to get to the outside to throw it away there, having quite a big chance on a 10 yard sack.

Yes, he did hold on to it for too long on some plays, but he busts out his O-line often like that as well. He can extend a play. Often, that's a good thing and we'll get a first down, sometimes, it'll result in stuff like you saw yesterday.

Just imagine if we had a true pocket passer, though. A Brady-like player would've been killed out there.
