Wrong, the Vikings write Brett's checks, not the Jets.

As for Tannenbaum owning it. What was he supposed to do? Deny it? Have a circus around his team with a new staff? Or just own it and pay the fine and move on? Innocent or not, I'd have done the same thing. Own it, pay it, move on to the season at hand.

If Brett doesn't mention anything about the injury and stating he would have been receptive to being benched... do the Jets get the fines?

False. They don't.

It's amazingly cut and dry, regardless of who was more wrong or not. If Brett doesn't squeal, no fine. What's so hard to grasp about that? You're going back and back and back ... but the FACT is. If Brett doesn't mention it, the Jets do not get the fines levied. I find it amusingly amazing you won't acknowledge that.

Were the Jets wrong. Sure, just as EVERY team is for not properly disclosing injuries.

Was Brett wrong for playing? No, not at all. He told his team of his injury, they were aware and all parties understood that Brett at, hell, 70% is better than any QB on the Jets roster. And I don't think Brett should be fine as I said.

My point, Jets right or wrong, he shouldn't say things about them anymore because he's a Viking. And the same would go if Brett leaves the Vikings and plays for another team, he has no right to discuss his tenure with the Vikings while collecting paychecks from a new employer (NFL team that is).

Just as with many frivolous lawsuits, it's often far cheaper simply to settle than to go through years of protracted litigation in which the lawyers' meters are continually running.

Bottom line, Mangini and Tannenbaum put Favre on the injury list (while still playing him.. A novel idea!!!), they don't get fined.. Regardless of Favre's mouth.

But, like I've said in my last few posts: The only news here is the fact that the Jets got their slap on the wrist. We all already knew Favre played hurt. It just wasn't until Tannenbaum confessed (which, BTW Zero, is the right thing to do, and I commend him on that), that they got their fine.

I don't really put any blame on Favre, per se. If the Jets truly did something wrong, they obviously deserve some punishment, even if it's essentially a slap on the wrist. I'm mainly commenting on his seeming ability to keep his thoughts to himself. He seems to have an almost childish diarrhea of the mouth lately. He certainly lacks tact. Some like to "ohh" and "ahh" over his honesty, but it strikes me as immaturity.

I agree the Jets should have put him on the injury report. No question. They didn't, just like every other team fails to put every player on the injury report.

The difference is, Favre has a big mouth and it cost his former employer some cash. He keeps his mouth shut, the Jets suffer the same penalty as every other team, none.

Wow, that was easy to understand.
