I think I'd rather deal with a couple missed penalties than a crew that throws flags every third play.

I wonder what the percentage of NFL officials that are lawyers is. And whether there is a correlation between "being a lawyer" and the frequency an official tosses a flag.

I would be shocked to find out that all those flags thrown Saturday night added less than 30 minutes to the actual duration of time the game was played.

Why not do more bootlegs/rollouts?

I agree, Rodgers has made a majority of his big plays with his feet. Get the man out of the pocket!

IMO that is the wrong way to do things. We need to run our offense, and let the defense try to stop us. With MN pass rush, trying to beat the cover 2 deep played right into their hands.

We needed to force the short stuff, the slants, curls, drags what ever. 1, 3 step drops.

What we did in the game, is Let their defense dictate to our offense, and their offense dictate to our defense. That is how games are lost not won, and we did it twice, and lost twice.

We need to be aggressive. With Brett, we threw slants against cover 2, we dared the defense to stop us. We have lost that and need it back.

Well, your thinking is just wrong. What do you think a QB is doing up there pointing their finger and shouting out instructions? They are seeing what the defense is set up to do and adusting the play.

Two weeks ago Rodgers see's the defense, recalls from the film what they were going to do, adjusts the play at the LOS resulting in a long TD to Driver untouched.

Certain defenses are called to stop certain things. You don't run the ball down the throat when you see eight in the box and you don't force the ball short against a cover 2. An offense DICTATES to the defense by doing a good job against the weakness' that defense has and NOT going right into the teeth of what a given defense is set up to stop.

It's ironic you mention Brett Favre and the Vikings and the fact they beat us twice in the same breath with "screw what the defense is doing" run YOUR offense. The STRENGTH of the Vikings is ADRIAN PETERSON. What did we do? Took him out of the running game. What did THEY do. ADUST and put the ball in Favre's hand.

What the heck do you think the Vikings record against us would have been if they said "aw, screw it, they're loading up against AP but were going to run it at them 40 times and DICTATE what our offense does best?

I'll tell you what the result would have been. Two wins for us and 0 for them. The REASON it turned out the other way around is they made better adjustments to what we were doing than the adjustments we made against them.

What the QB is doing at the line has nothing to do with calling a game to challenge the cover 2 short. He is adjusting the play called. The QB is going to adjust the play whether deep routes or short routes are called. Most of that is calling protection not changing routes. Unless there certain situations. Checking from pass to run. Not calling plays.

The cover 2 is not perfect. It is 5 short zones. There are gaps in the zones just like any other zones just tighter. There are still players covering those zones that we need to challenge. How, you run plays at them. Take 1 WR and run him upfield againt one of the LBers. That will clean out the short area of the zone for a slant. Or you run a player up the sideline against the CB. And run another player on a short out under. There are many ways to open an area of the field for short routes. It is just a little harder or different than when dealing with other defenses.

We ran short routes against the Cover 2 for years with Brett, we didn't call all deep/intermediate routes. We challenged the cover 2 because we knew we could do it with our players. I still believe we can challenge the Cover 2 with our WR and Rodgers. Apparently McCarthy doesn't.

And the Vikings did not change their offense. They are a WCO team just like us, only they have a legit running attack. We let them dictate what we did on defense just like we let them dictate what we did on offense. and that is not how to coach.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

If you put Rodgers in Favre's scenario they're the best team in the NFL, by far.
