Nose to the Grindstone

"It's nothing physical, it's all technical," Raji said. "I'm stronger than the guy. I mean, that's not really talking (smack); he's just fast. That's not his game, really, strength. He's more trying to out-leverage you, get around you. Once I get the feel of that then the game will come a lot easier.

"It's not going to take me a whole (game) to get used to him moving. Football's football. He's not going to change the way he plays because there's a new nose on him. He's going to play the way he's been playing. So what I watch on film, it's probably going to help me out the most, really."

Though I'm mostly in agreement of his assessment of Kreutz, I just don't think it's ever good to challenge a veteran player on their strength. Here is to Raji putting his play where his mouth is if Pickett doesn't go this weekend, good opportunity for Raji to show us what his future holds.

I love the mentality this guy has as a rookie. Ready to step in at nose, recognizes film study is the most important aspect of preparing for the game, etc... He's just really got his head on straight.

As long as he takes care of bidness I don't mind the comments. But if Kreutz schools him then maybe he should just keep his mouth shut and study some more film.

Bulletin Board Material and you don't mention this???

No big deal

In the season opener, the Packers had no defense against the pass rush of defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, who had two sacks and three quarterback hits.

Allen Barbre was making his first career start at right tackle and was a swinging gate against the 32-year-old Ogunleye. This time around, the Packers will start Mark Tauscher, a veteran who re-signed at midseason after recovering from major knee surgery.

Ogunleye doesn't seem to think the change will make a lot of difference.

"Tauscher is a veteran," Ogunleye told the Chicago Tribune on Thursday. "I don't think he's in shape yet, honestly. I think on Sunday, that would be a matchup we're looking to win."

There's only one problem with Ogunleye's thought process. In his eight games against Tauscher as a member of the Bears, he has never had a sack.

Maybe that's why Ogunleye said: "Yeah, right now I don't like Tauscher. Me and him, we won't be talking before and after the game."

Good luck on that one, Ogunleye. He has quite a mouth on him for such a mediocre player. Don't get me wrong, he dominated Barbre in that first game, but really, I could most likely dominate Barbre.

I don't think that anyone should call out Tauscher on his pass blocking, but knowing him, he'll keep this to himself, maybe give Ogunleye a little smirk after keeping him out of the play, once again. I hope the cameras will show us just that. And that they know about Ogunleye's comments.

Anyway, I don't know if calling out Kruetz is the smart thing to do. I think that he might surprise Raji. The guy is smart. No 30+ year old has the strength of a 20 year old, but they're savvy, they find ways to shut you down. I hope it won't happen, but it'd be a nice introduction to an elite center for Raji. This isn't college.

As a NT, the more attention Raji draws to himself from the Center etc, the better. Eat up those doubles like you have been, BJ.

Nice article Zero2Cool, I hadn't seen that article. Time to call into ESPN Chicago and trash them a little on ripping on Raji for doing it. I like having ammo.
