The Vikings "shot their wad" last off-season. We held "pat".
All these other teams in the North have been in superior position come draft time for the most part as well.
Great year in both the draft and FA for us to make some big-time moves, especially where we need it most, imo, both lines.
Losing Tausch as we did, probably simplifies things in the emotional attachment department.
Good draft position, plenty of cap money, dependent upon who stays/goes...
Extra pick w/ Brett Extra Pick from New Orleans in the 6th
Town of GB and the GB world up in arms...
IT IS TIME !
Shoot our wad...Bust a Move...
That's what I say, a STRONG Ted Thompson supporter to date.

I will probably be pissed again around the start of free agency and especially the draft.. but once we hit the camps and late July rolls around.. I will be jacked again for the adds.
As much as I would love to see a stud added to either line.. in my mind I have programmed to tell myself that doesn't happen under this watch.. especially in these economic times..
It will be another business as usually quiet offseason.. however this year there will be little drama...

Ted Thompsons wad spitting will be nothing more than a dribble and a dab. He has shown year after year he will not overpay a free agent and his affection for draft picks has became over apparent.
As much as i would love to see Ted Thompsons wad shooting take the bark off a tree .....i just don't see it happening.

Right now it looks like it's going to be a 3rd. I don't see the Jets winning the division right now after losing the last two weeks. Miami could quite possibly take it, or New England. I'd say there is about a 20% chance they win the division, and zero chance they get a wild card slot.
Way to fold when you had the division wrapped up, Jets. :xcensoredx:

It will be a second, 4-12 to the playoffs is quite a fold.

I think MassPackersfan is just about dead on in his prediction.
I think I'd go: New England 60% chance
Miami 40% chance
NY 20% chance
NO it doesn't have to equal 100........................
3rd is good, though. This is a good year to have it. I have been looking hard at this draft... It's going to be a good year for us.

Jets have:
Buf at home.
At Seattle
Miami at home..
They should be able to win the next two and all the marbles are on the line with Miami coming into the snow.. Jets are sitting okay yet.
The Cards are going to give the NE team fits on defense..
It should be interesting.

I wish it was all over today....Our consensus pick is Michael Oher falling to us at 10... How thrilling would THAT be? I am glad we get to watch this unfold for this pick and for Brett, but still... Michael Oher!!!??? END IT, I SAY!! :thumbleft:

I don't know.......it's gonna be mighty cold, and we all know how well Favre does in cold games lately.

But of course, the fanatics would have us believe that if only the Packers hadn't traded Favre to the Jets, they'd be Superbowl-bound this year.

From the title of this subject I thought somebody had proof that the old pornstar Johnny Wadd was shot!
Just kidding, I am now rooting for the Jets to go to the Superbowl so the Packers can get their 1st round pick.

I've always felt if the right player was there you go get him. I felt it with Randy Moss and Jason Taylor actually as well. Now I accepted that Thompson didn't go get Moss and I obviously didn't call for his head because of that. The Packers ended up doing very well. I was dissapointed, but not ridiculous like some harsh critics are.
That was then.
Now I believe the same as a lot more people do and that's go into free agency. Time to take a risk. It's not like Charles Woodson was a safe signing. I recall a lot of people and I was one of them being very critical of Woodson when he was signed.
This year I've said in multiple threads about where we should spend $$$ on and that's the offensive and defensive line. I also think we should use the early draft picks on those positions. If the Packers don't then my opinion of this football team will probably be harsher than it was in quite a while. We'll see though, as Pack I believe said, we're so used to nothing happening in free agency, that by July we're all optimistic.

The thing with Woodson is that while it sure seemed like he was going to be overpaid, it's not like he could do any worse than Carroll.
It was a win-win, if you ask me. He sucked in the first 6 weeks, but he was money after that.

it really wasn't though. he was coming off of a broken leg i believe? (fact check me please) Not to mention the very public attitude problems he had with Bill Callahan. at the time, that free agent signing seemed like a shot in the dark.
it turned out lovely though.

With all the criticism going on atm, he'll nearly be forced to sign someone.
If he doesn't sign at least one free agent this off-season, he'll have a crapload of people over him, and I can't see him wanting to go through that after the whole Favre saga.
What I would see him do though, is signing some crappy OT for 1 mil a year, who sits on the bench most of the time, to somewhat please the fans.
