I'm starting to believe our defensive scheme is too beatable -- without Harris and Jenkins in there (i.e. a push upfront and good coverage) we can't get the job done. Where has Kampman been? The front four can't get a pass-rush. It's killing us right now. KILLING us.

The main problem with the DL right now is that the Packers only have 3 DTs, and two of them are on the field at a time not getting them much of a breather on the side lines if any.

The other problem is that the offense keeps having short drives, that make the DT go back on the field. 99% of DT can't be on the field as much as the Packers have and be good, because their so tried because their on the field most of the game.

The system were running counts on that the DL will be able to keep guys fresh, and that the guys rotating in can play some.

And we can't keep the guys fresh and the back-up have been doing horrible which means the coaches want the starters to stay out there longer.

The only things that have fix this is

1) The offense start having long drives giving the defense a chance to rest.

2) Harrell comes back and proves to be a good (which it's been reported that, he's in the best shape since being with the Packers.)

3) trade or FA for somebody good

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's time for Green Bay to put Sanders out to pasture. The scheme is just too vanilla. I'm so jealous of Tampa with Kiffin and the Giants with Spagnola.

I'd love to have a guy like that on Green Bay's staff. McCarthy - go steal Jim Johnson from Philly.

The scheme works with a beastly pass-rush -- which we haven't had since last season. And we're not very good at blitzing when we do blitz. I don't know WHAT we're going to do against GOOD teams, let alone teams of the Falcons' caliber.

I really think the clincher today was penalties. Penalties took away a field goal, killed our drives, and gift-wrapped extra yards to the Falcons. You can't win games like that.

edit: whatever "significant" changes lie ahead for the Packers defense probably won't be implemented this season. Our personnel fits the scheme we currently run, but our personnel is 1) banged up 2) not playing well.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Hell, I don't know what to do with this loss. I'm just numb.

offense looked better. defense looked like a week of adjustments are forthcoming. could be a long season.

i am encouraged by the play of tramon williams. and if Colledge doesn't lose his starting guard spot to Barbre, i'll poop my own pants.

Didn't Colledge move to LT, Barbre went to LG, and Clifton off the field when the line started to work.

I hate the blame College stuff, he has been the best OL this year.

No he's not that good, but everyone else has been looking that bad.

Colledge need to stay on the field, unless he's injured or has play starts to be a lot worse.

"bozz_2006" wrote:

you're crazy. Colledge could be a decent LT once Clifton gets too old. he looked decent out there today. but he has no business playing guard. pad level way too high. poor leverage. Barbre looked great at G. You seem knowledgeable enough, but saying Colledge has been our best O-linemen is just way off. he hasn't been inconsistent like Tausch, Clifton, etc. but that's because he's been consistently mediocre.

I think Colledge would be a better OT than a OG as well, but he's played better than Ciffton, Tausch, Spitz, Wells, and Moll so far this season, IMO.

Also the reason Barbre isn't the starter is because he makes a lot mental mistakes when ever the DL stunts.

Also Barbre doesn't always get the the push and sometime just looks bad.

Most of Barbre problems are mental stuff, which can be fixed if he's coachable, which is still up in the air, because he hasn't complete fix them as of yet.

that was barbre's problem most of last year, but it's a new year, and i'm trying to judge his performance by what i saw today.
