Take your crack at grading each position group and overall grade for the 1st quarter of the season.

QB - B+ : A couple of costly errors and lack of depth costs the position an A.

RB - D

WR - B : Jennings gets an A+, Driver a borderline A, the rest.. C to B

TE - C- : Not alot of opportunities.. but a spark here and there.

OL - F : Failing in the run game and not much better in pass protection.. first game probably earns them a D grade.. but this last couple have been brutal.

DL - D+ : Thin depth and over use (on the field to long and lack of rotation) has hampered this group, lack of discipline in assignments is being talked about.. but I think a lack of desire and intensity is vacant as well.

LB - C : Barnett is struggling again getting off blocks, Hawk has been nicked up for a couple of weeks and Poppinga is showing a little more in the passing game but hasn't flashed either.

CB - B+ : The Harris injury has hampered this group as well, but Williams has filled in pretty well. Woodson has been a savior at times this year and Collins is backing up talk of increased study and preparation this offseason. Lee is showing potential. Bigby and Rouse being nicked up as hurt the run game more so than the pass game where Collins is everywhere it seems.

K - B

P - F : Frost has been a disappointment after a decent first game..

Coaching - Following a A+ year with a at best C year has been a disappointment. DC still shows that he can't adjust in game, the OL hasn't improved. A tip of the cap to the secondary coaches though.. this group has shown improvement over last year at Safety and Corner alike.

Overall Grade.. middle of the road C.

Your grades....

Oh an to be clear.. grades at this point aren't necessarily to be held as a measuring stick for the end of the year grades.. Just to date.. no projections or doom and gloom.

Honest evaluation of the teams performance to date.

QB - Was rock solid against the Vikings. Lights out against the Lions and his gutsy play against the Falcons really earned respect around the locker-room I think. However, he didn't play as well as his stats show against Dallas and the Tampa Bay game was also shaky at best.

Grade: B+

RB - Ryan Grant still hasn't gotten going and Brandon Jackson has looked decent when he's gotten the ball. I actually think he was doing a better job than Grant up until the Atlanta game. Neither has gotten it done in the screen game.

Grade: D+

WR - Greg Jennings is on pace to be an All Pro receiver this year. Donald Driver has been consistent and when healthy Jones, Martin, and Nelson have all flashed what they're capable of doing. All things considered, I've been impressed. Jennings really carries the group now.

Grade: A-

TE - Donald Lee hasn't gotten the ball as much as he should. Tory Humphrey flashed against Atlanta. Jermichael Finley is clearly one of the biggest projects on the team. Rodgers always has a tendency to check down to the back instead of the TE, so I think that explains the drop off in numbers but overall the unit has been lacking.

Grade: C-

OL - Mark Tauscher and Chad Clifton are showing their age. Scott Wells is a average center, but he is hurt so that can be factored in. The guards are soft as cheese. Can't run block and can't protect the QB. The game against Minnesota is the only reason why they don't get an F.

Grade: D

DL - Aaron Kampman and Cullen Jenkins actually flashed a good pass rush for the first four games as a unit. The Atlanta game showed the importance of Jenkins in the pass rush. Pickett is playing poorly and Jolly isn't have the year he had last year in the run defense. Colin Cole is a nice backup, but beyond him nobody on the bench has done much.

Grade: C-

LB - The injuries to Hawk have slowed him down, but before them, he was carrying the group. Nick Barnett is playing poorly. He's taking bad angles, missing tackles, and is always looking for the big hit instead of wrapping up and bring the player to the ground. Brady Poppinga is an average player who is playing average. Chillar did decent against Dallas at times. Overall this is the strength of the defense and they haven't shown it at all.

Grade: C-

DB - Harris played well before getting hurt. Williams has had a knack for finding the ball with two picks in two starts. Nick Collins has also flashed the potential the coaches have been touting for four years now. Woodson is the biggest gamer on the team in my opinion. Considering the injuries, they've held their own.

Grade: B

K - Crosby is a rock solid kicker, but the miss against Atlanta did hurt. It was within his range.

Grade: A-

P - Hard to believe that dropping Ryan for Frost might be one of the worse moves Ted Thompson has made.

Grade: F

Return: Blackmon's punt return has been huge and teams actually are starting to try and avoid kicking it to him. Dallas specifically did.

Grade: A-

Coaching: Mike McCarthy's lack of confidence in running the ball has hurt the offense in quite a number of ways. Bob Sanders lack of aggression, I think is a huge factor in why the defense can't seem to do much of anything. Basically a 180 on the coaching.

Grade: C-

Overall 2-3 would result in a C- or C grade for me.

I think you all are being too nice to our coaching staff.

I'd give them a D, and I'm being a nice guy. Our coaching has:
1) failed to make adjustments,
2) failed to inspire,
3) plays waaaaay too conservatively and is downright predictable.

Actually, screw being nice. MM and Co get an F.

My grades:

QB - C : The default plays are fine, the critical ones have failed. Not reliable when it counts so far.

RB - B+ : I think Grand and Jackson have done a good job considering the offensive line is a pancake and the injuries.

WR - C- : Drops are a problem.

TE - D : Blocking has been terrible and pass protection too

OL - F : What line?

DL - F : The DL is Kampan and his ballet, so far Kampy gets double and triple teamed and the ballet dances....

LB - D : They play as if they were not on the field

CB - A: Woodson is our best player so far and Tramon Williams is playing at the same level or better than Harris.

K - A : New holder, new snapper the guy just kicks.

P - F : Frozen....

Coaching - F : We have no imagination we are playing vanilla and yet making plenty of mistakes. Penalties go to the coaches too, disaster!

Overall Grade: Solid D

Luigis - I think you and I are on agreement. Woody's our best player right now, and deserves that A.

The only thing I'd disagree with is WR. I'm thinking A- or B+. Gregorious may be an All-Pro this year.

Yes, you are probably right they are doing a good job considering the ball arrives earlier than expected because Rodgers is running for his life.

Luigis - I think you and I are on agreement. Woody's our best player right now, and deserves that A.

WR-To me Jennings has been the best we have, but i would lower him to A-.
The reason? Drops. He had some right in the hands that he didn't catch. For me to give him an A+ he can't drop ones in the hands.

Those not giving the OL an F please remember Atlanta rushed only 3 players in several plays and 5 against 3 they managed to get to Rodgers, I remember one of the plays where they rushed 3, Lavar Arrington beat Clifton and Daryn Colledge was just there blocking nobody and didn't even attempt to help Clifton, maybe he though he had a free play since they were only rushing 3....

If you ask me, nobody deserves an F and nobody deserves an A.

There's always room for improvement, and nobody has failed so utterly and spectacularly that they are completely unworthy of the position they hold, destined to ride in the wastelands of mediocrity and failure.

What I see here was a B grade team falling to a C- / D+ grade. We need to improve, but to claim failure is to surrender to a fate not yet decided.
