Volume 2, set 3 of link I previously provided. Scroll down near bottom of that link.

"Examination of vaginal and cervical swabs reveals the presence of human male dna, utilizing the quantifier---yada yada yada"

further down---

sperm identified on panties----

IDENTIFIABLE male sperm not present---

He came THAT close from that lab test.

(She reported she last had intercourse on New Year's, btw--sorry for the details, whatever--just letting you know what she said)

Read the link!

It is really hard to come away from reading the entire report and come away thinking that there was no intercourse in that bathroom, including the statements from "Ben's guys"

Problem is...It's a pain in the ass to read.

Here's my take: He's not being suspended for rape or any other crime. He's being suspended for being an arrogant prick who clearly suffers from an out-sized sense of entitlement and doesn't feel that he should alter his behavior in any way to preserve the league's reputation.

None of us here can say definitively whether he raped or assaulted the woman. But there's more than enough evidence to say that he did sequester himself in a back room and arrange to have "talent" brought into said room. On the heels of a very public civil suit for similar behavior, it smacks of - if nothing else - a sense that his wants are more important to him than societal norms or the reputation of his employer(s).

So what I see Goodell doing is saying "Guess what, you little prick? You're NOT more important than this league, and if you intend to continue to play in this league you'll cut that shit out, and fly right." Given that my employer can fire me for little more than an unfortunate desk-fart, I don't see why Ben's entitled to anything other than what he's getting.

Bottom line, I don't see this is any statement as to the guilt or lack thereof in this specific instance - it's a response to a pattern of behavior which the league clearly sees as intolerable. And good on 'em for it, I say.

yep. as the OP, i didn't want to lead the conversation of the thread too much with my own opinion so i stayed out of it for awhile, but this is basically what i was getting at. i only mocking said "he is guilty" in parenthesis as a sarcastic way of saying "i am certainly biased on this because i have a gut feeling, etc"

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

One more thing.

PA. State police rescind permission for Trooper to work for Ben

Joyner is lucky he still has a job, imo.

The other cop is yet another sad yet interesting saga.

You guys (those that have been following this story) know him as a local Pennsylvania cop.

He is that, but what you probably don't know is that he has been "on loan" to the DEA for quite some time.

This is germane, because he refused to be recorded during his interview with the GBI-either video or audio, but agreed to sign notes taken by the GBI investigator if he was allowed to "correct" them after reading them.

He cited his undercover work with the DEA as a reason for no taping. The GBI didn't buy it. They contacted the DEA, and while he did work in the past undercover (long story here)---

There was no reason why he couldn't be taped---DEA said so---dude tried to "play" the GBI... got pissed about it too...

Like I said previously, or have tried to say, there is a LOT in that report that many haven't heard about.

Im not sure the exact details of the above -

but from my understanding he was accused of rape by someone but wasnt made guilty by a court. Yet he is being reprimanded pretty harshly as if he did?

As far as having drunken sex in a bathroom ... or drunken sex anywhere ... so this is something people shouldnt do? or something people whom are celebrities shouldnt do?
I mean errr ...

not sure what to think - but think the penalty is a bit harsh

My personal bottom line is this.

Star-struck drunk kids. Star-struck "Friends" that put themselves out as "bodyguards"---

The "victim" said it the best of all of them, imo--even while drunker than a skunk.

"I was kinda raped".

What he did (imo) was extremely predatory. This is a man that should not drink. He lacks the character to do so responsibly, and his two friends/bodyguards enabled him. They may be cops, they may be good ones, but on that night- they conducted themselves in a disgusting fashion and while expert at damage control, they both have a lot to learn about honor---Just my opinion.

Again, the CBI excerpts

ahh that makes sense. I can understand that - bit harsh of a penalty for that thou but maybe the NFL felt like it needed to set an example or something.

Id say 4 games max.

I don't buy it. I've performed PCR myself. You can amplify DNA off almost unimaginably small quantities of genetic material. If there was no identifiable DNA in these sperm, the DNA must have been seriously degraded, which would have taken time. It just makes no sense to me that they could have been fresh enough to have come from Roethlisberger. Maybe there's something I'm totally missing here (and if there is someone who knows more about PCR and forensics who can explain this, please do!), but considering they can get DNA from sperm samples that are days or weeks old, I don't see how they could have failed to get it from a sample that was supposedly only a few hours old.

It's easy to dismiss the DNA evidence (or lack thereof) by pointing to the botched police work, but that is irrelevant here. The rape kit would have been performed by trained medical personnel in the hospital. The police could not have botched it. Now it's possible, in the worst-case scenario, that the attending officer failed to give her instructions not to use the bathroom (in which case he should be jailed, in my opinion), and that she washed away a good chunk of the DNA from her vaginal canal, but that still wouldn't explain the lack of identifiable DNA in the sperm on her panties. Or anywhere else on her body, for that matter.

It's also not enough to argue that the drunk Roethlisberger probably shot blanks, which is what I would have assumed (though it's apparently not true, as sperm were found on her panties), since there are so many other potential sources of DNA: saliva, mucus, hair, skin flakes, etc. It's almost impossible not to leave DNA on someone in your vicinity, particularly if the kind of contact that is alleged here actually occurred.

As I've said repeatedly, I don't consider Roethlisberger blameless in this affair. I consider his conduct reprehensible and disgusting. But there's something about this woman's story that just doesn't add up, and I've seen enough men's lives get fucked over by unstable women (my own best man is serving 10 years in a Washington penitentiary on trumped-up charges he was too scared to fight) that I'm extremely wary. It pisses me off, frankly, that just because it would look uncompassionate to prosecute a woman who's supposedly been sexually assaulted, she won't be charged for her own misconduct on this evening. Underage, cruising not one but several bars on a fake ID, consuming vast quantities of alcohol -- at the very least an underage drinking ticket should be in order. And that's without even considering the possibility she conspired with her friends to give the police a false official statement.

Of course, it'll never happen.

[ I was merely making reference to your humourously phrased statement in the context of, well, rumpy pumpy.

the key here is what he was actually suspended for...take the alledged rape out of the equation & he's STILL a freakin douchebag idiot who doesn't deserve the limelight he's been given. i don't care about what other players have done/haven't done in the past - he's being punished for making the wrong choices - i got no problem with that at all.
