I have to agree with Chewy on the keep your mouth shut comment and yeah Finley is sounding more and more like a moron each week, but Chewy shouldn't have said it on national radio.
I don't know if I'm alone on this but I am getting tired of Finley drawing attention to him self as much as possible. I am starting to see a baby TO starting. Both great atheletes but love the attention.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I agree with hazer to an extent...I do see a baby TO blossoming, even if not this year, maybe in the future.

However, I don't know that it's all self-imposed. There was just an article in USA Today on Friday about how he's the next big thing, and you can't turn to any major publication that doesn't have an article echoing these predictions of Finley's rise to fame - he can't necessarily control the hype.

He is cocky, some of this isn't his fault, but none the less the combination scares me because I do forsee him having a huge year and worry what that'll mean for his ego.

With Finley you have to tap the brakes every so often.

One thing this team seems to need is a veteran to pull a guy aside and give some advice in a Reggie, Leroy Butler kind of way.

The media types like soundbites and are encouraging Finley to say more and more.

I am hoping that Finley's more subdued than normal response was the result of someone helping to tap on the brakes.

It is difficult to win fighting the media.

When you are a successful athlete, you are going to be interviewed, and you have to know how to handle it. It's not that hard. There are plenty of guys on our own team who have had great success and have handled themselves just fine. I agree that it would be a very good thing if some of those guys are giving Finley advice. He's going to need it. I love the way he plays, but I can easily see him becoming a major headache and distraction for this team if he does not keep himself in check.

I do think Chmura went overboard by calling Finley a "moron," but I agree with him that Finley needs to tone it down.

He hasn't said anything that is detrimental to the team. I have no problem with a guy saying he believes that the Packers are going to the Super Bowl. I honestly don't care if a guy decides to talk trash, as long as he backs it up. I enjoy having players with some swagger instead of the always politically correct guys. People hate when Mike McCarthy gives bland statements, but hate it when a guy shows some confidence and emotion. I don't get it.

Also the T.O. reference doesn't make sense because T.O. destroys teams he goes to. Starting conflicts with his QB and coaches and splitting the locker room. Finley has not done any of this. It isn't fair to compare Finley to one of the most polarizing figures in sports.

and I agree w/ GregC. - Jennings, Driver, Woodson, and for the most part Rodgers (a few slip ups) have had a tremendous amount of success but still handle themselves well even with the media slobbering all over them.

He bought his exoneration? You assholes, he was acquitted by a jury of his peers.

I've been in hot tubs with minors before. So has almost every man on this board at one time or another. Does that make them perverts? Dude never even took off his shorts, for fucksake.

I hope I never serve on the jury for some of you close-minded, puritanical bigots, because I would have a hard time maintaining my objectivity.

If you would convict a man for a crime he objectively did not commit, then you are not a "freedom-loving American," no matter what conservative, flag-waving rhetoric you might spout. You are in fact by definition a law breaker, lawless, an outlaw. This is a nation governed by law, not personal moral preference. Conviction is not subject to the whim of moral indignation.

It is not liberals who cause me to fear for the future of this country, but rather conservative Christians -- and I'm a devout, right-leaning Christian myself! With freedom-destroying friends like the fundamentalists, who needs enemies?

This was such a stupid little episode. They both need to keep their big yaps shut.

Finley looks unstoppable on the field.

Un-friggin'-stoppable. I don't care if the defender is on him like a tent.

Shut up and let your play do the talking.

...And Chewy can shut his big yap, too. His comment was uncalled for, even though he is probably pretty close to home on the moron thing.

I say pot meet kettle on that one, but the whole thing was and is really quite friggin' stupid. Finley was surprisingly reserved in his response, imo--He is still too friggin' stupid to be doing any yappin'...

It's just my impressions and opinion on the whole damn stupid friggin' thing. That kid is gonna cost us a fortune to retain-- That is my prediction, which in the big scheme, isn't worth any more than my opinions, but I still have 'em. :tongue3:
